New Pro
New Pro
Well, I was gong to paint today but the weather didn't hold. So, instead I put together this car that has been on my workbench way too long. This car sports all new outdrives, front and rear arms, chassis, front shock tower and bulkhead, bumper and motor plate. Many of the parts came from bearrickster's stash. The Protoform California Rattler (we think) body came from Rick as well. I'm not 100 percent sold on the wheel choice, I have stockers I could put on too. I will be replacing the rear bulkhead eventually along with a few other bits and pieces as they become available.

Gary that looks great I really like that body. is that the NIP chassis. to be honest I dont care much for those wheels, I have a new set of Red Pro Logo wheels if you need them.
Re: New Pro
Yeah, you're right Rick. I'm not too happy with them either. I think I'm going to go with something more period correct. I'll let you know on the logo rims.

Re: New Pro
I agree that the modern wheels look abit at odds on this vintage buggy.... I like the all-black look, it kinda makes it look like a Jrx2 updated with a 'Proformance' kit - especially with that chassis (without the servo horn cut-out)
BTW which slipper clutch is that?

Re: New Pro
Not sure what the slipper is to be honest. I got it in another car I purchased. The wheels are off and it's back to the workbench to find the right wheel and tire combo!

Re: New Pro
OK, here's a couple of ideas for rolling stock based on what I could get my hands on. The black rims are old ones that I redyed for this application. I think it makes the car look kinda sinister. The yellow rims are a pair of nip rears I had and a restored pair of fronts that I got from Rick. I have a third possible option that I'm working on depending on how much it ends up costing me. I'll post that up when/if it happens. Anyway, which of the sets you can see now do you like? Or should I keep looking for something different? Keep in mind this car will never see the track while I own it.

Re: New Pro
I like the black wheels but not the tires, the yellow wheels look great. keep working on the other set they will set it off!! nice job
Re: New Pro
Thanks Rick, didn't call last night. I need to check what time zone he is in. The tires on the black rims were scrounged out of the parts box - running out of nice ones.bearrickster wrote:I like the black wheels but not the tires, the yellow wheels look great. keep working on the other set they will set it off!! nice job

Re: New Pro
The black wheels look sick, I agree with Rick, though, need to use different tires. An all black theme would look pretty mean, with white highlights, or a highly metallic silver details would look pretty mean.

looks a lot like mine, stealthy:

What shell is that?
RedScampi - personally I prefer the Yellow Pro Se wheels, the black wheels are TOO black IMO - maybe you could pick out the outer edge in silver like the writing on asconsola's car?

Re: New Pro
Yeah, I ws thinking the same thing - too much black. Those wheels are marginal parts box wheels anyway so will not be staying on this particular car. The shell is a Protoform California Rattler as far as Rick and I know. We haven't had anyone tell us different so far. This is the only one I've ever seen. Here is a new twist on wheels. I stole the rims off one of my TRX-1s to see how they'd look. I had to ream the rear wheels to 3/16" to fit the axles but the fronts dropped on, bearings and all. This is a lot closer to what I want. The last picture is what I'd really like to do, but I need rears. I'm working on it!DerbyDan wrote:^^ Now I like thataconsola wrote:I like the black wheels.
