Heatsink with fan that will fit the early transmissions

Post by Jeep-Power »

With the warmer, more pleasant temps these days, I'm running into heat issues on my Truggies (RC10 & T3)

I did some searching here, but didn't find much on it. I guess the smaller buggy tires & flat out racing don't require as much heat management?

What motor heatsink/cooling fan combos are you guys using, please?

I'm running the Traxxas 3500kV motor with 2C Lipos-- I seem to get hat issues no matter what spur/pinion I'm running on the 1st gen Stealth. I'm at 4.10:1 & it gets as hot as when I was running 3.31:1, but it is moving alot slower.

they make these

not sure if it would fit on a rc10 gold pan.

you could cut a bigger hole where the 2 holes currently are on the "top" of the motor plate and mount just a fan on top.

litesink another option, though i dont know how effective they are

they make these for $8 bucks too

Who remembers those heatsinks they used to have in which you could fill with dry ice? They were pretty neat and impractical at the same time.

Mike-
Thanks for the links. Those look good. Are you using them, yourself?

I've seen a few other styles as well. I'm hoping I can get a definite 'buy this one" on one. They all look like they might work-- its just with the trans housing being so close to the motor-- I have had trouble with can-wrap heat sinks in the past (remember the Parma ones?).
