chrome xls wheels how to?
Hi all
Has any one ever tryed to get a nice chrome affect on there schumacher wheels (like the cat xls) Ive just bought a set of used but good condition xls wheels and wondered could I strip the old chrome paint of the old wheels and spray with a new chrome paint to get that shinny new finish, any advice on products and a how to would be appreciated

Re: chrome xls wheels how to?
I can tell you what I have used for stripping wheels in the past, it will even strip the chrome plated wheels which are extremely tough to strip as far as getting a new chrome effect I personally have not really tried any but this should get you part of the way there. The fronts were alot easier to brake down the plating I left them in for roughly 12hrs the rears took a bit longer. Previuosly painted wheels strip real easy and so far I have found no effects to the plastic hope this helps

Re: chrome xls wheels how to?
Acetone does the job as well and it works on the Schumacher wheels with no side effects...leave them in there for about 15-20 min and just wipe it off....wash with water after. I did think of trying to do the chrome but thought otherwise in case I screwed it up.

that stripper works great! I have tried it a few times and worked just like it should.

Hi, will that stripper remove black bodyshell marker pen from old Procat rims? Also, is there a way to "bleach" them back to white when they've discoloured and gone "off white"? Thanks
Re: chrome xls wheels how to?
I know that acetone will remove Sharpie marker, but depends if it soaked into the plastic. Also acetone will melt some types of wheels, so be careful!kaszal wrote:Hi, will that stripper remove black bodyshell marker pen from old Procat rims? Nitro fuel will also remove sharpie pen marks and tyre scuffs.....put some on a rag and just rub onto the said area.

How about isopropanol? A lot more gentle than acetone.wts873 wrote:I know that acetone will remove Sharpie marker, but depends if it soaked into the plastic.
