I can tell you what I have used for stripping wheels in the past, it will even strip the chrome plated wheels which are extremely tough to strip as far as getting a new chrome effect I personally have not really tried any but this should get you part of the way there. The fronts were alot easier to brake down the plating I left them in for roughly 12hrs the rears took a bit longer. Previuosly painted wheels strip real easy and so far I have found no effects to the plastic hope this helps

Acetone does the job as well and it works on the Schumacher wheels with no side effects...leave them in there for about 15-20 min and just wipe it off....wash with water after. I did think of trying to do the chrome but thought otherwise in case I screwed it up.

Hi, will that stripper remove black bodyshell marker pen from old Procat rims? Also, is there a way to "bleach" them back to white when they've discoloured and gone "off white"? Thanks

I know that acetone will remove Sharpie marker, but depends if it soaked into the plastic. Also acetone will melt some types of wheels, so be careful!

Nitro fuel will also remove sharpie pen marks and tyre scuffs.....put some on a rag and just rub onto the said area.

How about isopropanol? A lot more gentle than acetone.
