I was recently given this document from my good friend Rob in Melbourne. Haven't seen this one before but it had me wondering if Jeff Harris was the guy leaning against the Pro Radiant?
Yeah I did read that also but the AE shocks kinda got me thinking. I know Jeff used those on his car back then. Guess I was just thinking out aloud really.
Eau Rouge wrote:Most racers back then, people used Associated or Kyosho shocks on their cars (Radiant, Yokomo, Schumacher, etc.). That wasn't an uncommon mod at all.
Agreed. However I remember a photo Jeff posted which shows his car on the end with the chrome wheels. His car was sporting the AE gold shocks while I have never seen any pics of these on any other team cars back then.
My mistake anyways.
Yes, I am a member. Yes, I used the Associated gold shocks on my Pro Radiant. The subject pictured leaning on the car is Steve Dunn, not me I'm much better looking!
I had not long returned from a 2000km round road trip, have a screaming new born baby in one ear and my wife in the other. What can I say, in all the excitement I didnt even read the fine print to see who the driver actualy was. Maybe my eyes just dont work the way they used to- LOL! Guess I saw the gold AE shocks and that sent me on my merry way.
That's a pretty good catch Jason. Most of the pics I've seen of other team cars show them with the AYK shocks. I'm sure there's others out there, but mine is the only team car I've ever seen that used the gold shocks.
The ad mentions Mike Dunn's special motors. I can confirm that. I could tell every time I got a motor who built it. Mike's ran far better! Not sure why but they just did. For big races we had super special Mike motors that he would serialize on the endbell and keep a log book with records for those motors. Yep, those were the ones we REALLY wanted
I thought I would explain my Mike Dunn question here rather than hijack the Dunn QA thread.
There are a huge number of Boost shelled Pro Radiants on the internet, even stickered with Pro Radiant decals.
InetRC suggests that the Boost shell was...

You are correct. The Pro Radiant body did not work with the saddle pack conversion. Perhaps that explains why the different bodies on the ones pictured. I know we ran a different body, but just can't remember which one. To be honest, I never liked...
In 1989 AYK debuted the Pro Radiant, a 1/10th 4wd buggy as a successor to the 1987 released Radiant. Changes included fiberglass vertical chassis plates replacing the previously used aluminum plates. Movement of the motor from a rear mounted to a...
Well after lusting after the Pro Radiant bitd, I decided to have a go at sourcing one and so posted a wanted ad on RC10talk to see what might come up, if anything. I had looked over the Bay and seen a few had been sold in the past 18 months, in...

Try 'Rusty the Pro Radiant' thread as that has evolved into my full-on racer..... being developed at the moment by one of the top UK racers (Nathan Ralls) who is campaigning with it this summer in the UK vintage Revival event.
Back in the 80s and early 90s I used to run 2 & 4 wheel drive cars to a reasonable level in the UK. I was and early adopter of the Yokomo Dog Fighter etc, but I also was asked to look at running an...
Few pics of a Pro Radiant I picked up on the bay, should be here next week.
Talked myself out of buying one a few times, finally succumbed to it.
No idea what it is missing or what it will need, looks pretty complete, I think.
