AYK PRO RADIANT ADVERT.

Post by Bormac »

I was recently given this document from my good friend Rob in Melbourne. Haven't seen this one before but it had me wondering if Jeff Harris was the guy leaning against the Pro Radiant?

Yeah I did read that also but the AE shocks kinda got me thinking. I know Jeff used those on his car back then. Guess I was just thinking out aloud really.

Most racers back then, people used Associated or Kyosho shocks on their cars (Radiant, Yokomo, Schumacher, etc.). That wasn't an uncommon mod at all.

Agreed. However I remember a photo Jeff posted which shows his car on the end with the chrome wheels. His car was sporting the AE gold shocks while I have never seen any pics of these on any other team cars back then.
My mistake anyways.

Yes, I am a member. Yes, I used the Associated gold shocks on my Pro Radiant. The subject pictured leaning on the car is Steve Dunn, not me :) I'm much better looking!

I had not long returned from a 2000km round road trip, have a screaming new born baby in one ear and my wife in the other. What can I say, in all the excitement I didnt even read the fine print to see who the driver actualy was. Maybe my eyes just dont work the way they used to- LOL! Guess I saw the gold AE shocks and that sent me on my merry way.

That's a pretty good catch Jason. Most of the pics I've seen of other team cars show them with the AYK shocks. I'm sure there's others out there, but mine is the only team car I've ever seen that used the gold shocks.

The ad mentions Mike Dunn's special motors. I can confirm that. I could tell every time I got a motor who built it. Mike's ran far better! Not sure why but they just did. For big races we had super special Mike motors that he would serialize on the endbell and keep a log book with records for those motors. Yep, those were the ones we REALLY wanted :)
