All very interesting discussion.....

I still find amazing how the RC10 was such a runaway success..... 5000 is alot of units to sell!... and that was just the first run  Especially when you consider that the car was a competition based vehicle, their couldn't have been 'too' many people racing in what would have been fledgling years for the sport. Alot of people must have just brought them for 'fun' use? And at the end of the day it would have been a very expensive purchase (the price of the kit is comparable to the price of the latest B4)

I wonder how production figures compare between the rival companies like Losi & Schumacher?.... Though perhaps after the initial excitement aroused by the RC10 being released - the market had settled down ??

5000 is still only 100 per state,( or 15 per avg county ) sounds easily feasible in 1984 to me

Yes - put that way Cds, such initial sales does sound reasonable - especially given Associated's known reputation within the R/C community with their on-road cars.... off road racers must have been gagging for something more purpose built & robust like the RC-10.

I guess living the other side of the pond, I forget just how vast the USA is as a country - your density of population is less but there is still far more inhabitants in which to entice with a fresh new product..... I wonder if any of the first batch of cars ever make it overseas??
