My 834b runner

Have had this for months now and its been sitting on the shelf as I procrastinated. We've a local vintage run tomorrow so the last week has been a mad rush to get this into runner condition. lol!

Some notes on the car:
- custom front sway
- carbon fiber reinforcements to rear mono-shock design
- front and rear kyosho velvet shocks
- Mr Lexan Funco shell

Hope this thing holds together in the run tomorrow!

Already ran it without a shell yesterday and it was really a blast.

I didn't get over half throttle as I was just testing what the car could do... but it was evident that the car wasn't going to handle the ruts on the track too well. lol! The smoother sections felt pretty good though.

I think the chain was not in the right orientation too. Gotta fix that later tonight.

Just came back from a local race and saw this car in person, it ran rather well against some Optimas, Tamiyas, and even held it self after one of the kingpins came loose

Tried some "modern" tires on the car today for size... what do you guys think?






Here's a picture of the carbon fiber parts I machined to strenghten the rear monoshock setup. All the stock parts flexed quite badly, the CF parts reinforce the stock parts so they still can be used.

Anyone else here have regular 834b runners? Any tips on making it track worthy on our modern tracks?

Functionally, I like the modern tires & rims, as they increase your ground clearance...a good thing when jumping, anyway. You can also get a full set of four for dirt-cheap, so no worries wearing out your stock tires & rims. If one is building a shelf-queen, then stay stock; but if you're actually running it, go with something that might improve handling.

I think the tires will certainly improve handling... the stock tires were having problems with the ruts at the local track. The softer and plusher "modern" tires should make a significant difference.

Have another shelf queen I'm working on, so probably will glue up these tires and work on a few spacers to widen the track a tad.
