Fox....Rims Plated in14K Gold???

Post by losiXXXman »

Why is it that the Fox is SO sought after?? I want one myself, but every one that comes up on the bay fetches WAY more than I'd pay... Am I just too cheap? I don't even care about the gold rims, I want a runner not a model for the shelf.

I'm in the same boat as you are with them. They just fall into the desirable R/C category for whatever reason. Maybe due to all of the aftermarket options? Were they very popular during their time? That would have something to do with it as well.

It's only just starting to hit the prices that i feel it should be.

I did try to sell my very good nic one just over a yr ago, that has nice gold rims, Front option sway bar. New tamiya dynatech 01R motor, Box and instructions. I couldn't get more than $200 for it .So withdrew the auction.

The Fox is truly a fantastic buggy and in stock can give the RC10 a real scare. Yes they were popular as they were half the price of the rc10 as well.
I think everyone thought it will get Re realised but i highly doubt it as it was the only chassis that didn't spawn into another 5 different models.

I really think Tamiya sold the moulds to a Taiwan company that made the Killer. A Fox clone right down to the box art.

It is the best Tamiya 2wd to the Dyna Storm i feel.

So if it fetches more you won't be dissapointed still. It's just getting to where they really deserve to be......

I remember when the Fox was Tamiya's premier 2WD racer. It was quite the underdog back then and no doubt can still be a good vintage racer.
I know Mark's car is pretty hot on the race track too.

i totally disagree....the front suspension did not work and it took 10 screws to just get the chassis apart to get to the servo or speed control. my dad had a fox and it was superior to my frog tho........

Since I want a runner anyway, I wouldn't even care if it were a clone. Anyone know the name of the manufacturer who did it? According to a TC member Robbe did one called the Cheyenne, but Robbe is out of Germany I believe. Actually, here is some more about the clone named the Killer:

EDIT: The Robbe Cheyenne is NOT a Fox clone.

As far as I know, the wheels were plated in 24K gold, not 14K.
