Truck and buggie differences?

Post by DonDDR »

Im sure this has been covered and answered many times. I did several searches to no avail. What are the basic differences? You dont need to tell me all the things covering all the generations etc, just the basics. Thanks.

As far as the 10 goes, they share chassis, motorplate, transmission, rear bulkhead, battery cup tranny brace most hingepins and ball studs, rear shocks, rear suspension mounts and sometimes rear hubs

Basically the truck is a 2 dimensionally stretched and widened version of the buggy

To my understanding through the years, a truck just has longer A arms, shocks and different shock towers. This is in reference to the buggy and stadium trucks. I would assume between a buggy and truggy, the chassis might be stretched? I dunno. I've never owned a 1/8th offroad buggy or truggy.

oh, and forgot to mention the related tierods, turnbuckles and driveshafts would be longer too. I'm still confident that's the only differences.

How is it stretched if they use the same chassis?

Charlie stated above the truck is a stretched and widened buggie. longer arms would make it wider, but what makes it stretched?

the nose plate has 2 sets of holes. the one set is buggy length, the other is truck length. If the nose would be trimmed, it might be buggy only, like a worlds nose plate. Most are not however, unless the owner did the modification.

the truck and buggy have different width nose plates as well, and different front bulkheads. IF you use a special set of arms, you can use a truck nose to make a long arm buggy, like the 'what's old is new' buggy thread.
