Anyone tried? I have some blue parts that would be great if they were black......dunno if they can be dyed though once they have color blended in them.

I've found that regardles of current color, a part will always take a black.

I've done the exact, dye factory blue to black. Works good.

I dyed some fluorescent yellow RPM 10T parts black and they took the dye quickly.

I have a set of the world's car yellow buggy wheels and I'd like to make them a bit more green to match a color scheme.

Will that work or should I just start with white wheels?

You can go darker, but remember your combining colors and the one your dyeing will darken after you remove it. I like to run mine under cold tap water to stop the process.

It sounds like the stupidest question ever but I figure the one time I dont ask I will find out the hard way. I have several parts on my SC buildup to dye and would like to get the original white-ish stealth case and rpm rear arm mounts while im at...

I leave the heat on to a simmer as well. As the water and parts start cooling, the pores in the material start to shrink not letting the dye penetrate. A consistant heat is best.

I found an easy cheapo way to dye the parts :)

First picture is the trimmed rear bulkhead vs the original. both are NIB condition from AE.

Bottom is my first test using the little 'sprue' between the rear arm mount from Shapeway. See the top...

I was wondering if anyone has tried to remove dye from their parts to get them back to white or so shade of white :?: :?: :?:

I heard of using bleach, but I thought I would try Rit dye remover and see what happens.

My 10T has all the white plastic dyed black How do I get it back to white?I heard I can possibly bleach them but I dont want to make the parts brittle.Any suggestions?

Tonight I bought a hotplate for $19.00 to dye my parts in the basement. I have been using the grill outside, but it never got the water to a good boil.

do you have some sort of screen to keep the parts off the bottom which could warp parts???

I use a wire to hold it in the air.

As for the blue potatoes, I figured it was safer to take my chances without using the potato gauge.

alright, so i have my 10t torn all apart for clean up and I'm trying to decide what to do with the chassis. its pretty chewed up on the bottom. I'm trying to decide between: strip it and leave it bare aluminum, strip it and repaint black, or strip...

doesnt really leave a nasty finish, it looks like crap afterwards, but its easily polished out with aluminum polish and a rag. make sure to leave it in long enough to remove the anodizing as well as the color. i have left aluminum peices in anywhere...
