What do you guy's prefer? Dyed or not dyed white parts?
I'm piecing together a RC 10 for a shelf queen. The buggy will be on it's way in a few days. The parts look OK from the pics but some may be a little beat up. I think I can whiten them up with the peroxide method, but I'm thinking about dying them black.

Whenever I see white parts dyed I cringe. If I had a car that was really yellow or dyed pink or something I'd dye it black. But if it was white I'd keep it white and maybe try to find someone to trade with.

I'll suggest it's a matter of personal expression and preference with one's favorite colors and distinguishing oneself from everyone else. I might love the colors blue and green, and dye my nylon parts in those shades, but someone else might cringe and be turned on by orange and yellow instead.
Me, I just cringe when people simply follow all the other lemmings instead of doing their own thing, or are content to just leave everything as-is.
To be honest, I don't get the fascination with making box-art replicas, either. I don't want my cars to look just like the box images. Just my 2 centavos.

Re: To dye or not to dye white parts, what is your preferanc
Yes, it's definitely a matter of choice. I can appreciate box art cars with beautiful new white parts just as well as I appreciate people who go their own way and dye parts to their preference. I've dyed parts on numerous occasions to produce the look I want. That being said, there are only so many "white" parts left in the world and it's kind of a shame in my opinion to dye things that are irreplacable. I re-dye badly dyed parts but since the peroxide whitening treatment has proved so successful I'm much more selective about what is dyed. I really agree with the above sentiment that you should do what you want with your cars, don't do it because someone else likes it. This hobby is all about individualism and creativity. Make the car your own. Keep in mind though that if you do dye parts it may damage the resale value. But if you're just doing this for resale value, it's not really a hobby, is it?
