Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Let me say it was excellent meeting these guys a few weeks ago. I have to say those pics of Ruffy's cars dont do them justice. They are absolute pieces of art. I plan on going out this saturday with my car but I think Im going to have a few bugs to work out of it. Just wait till the tub chassis take over the 2wd class LOL

Exito muchachos...
The Aluminum chassis are back, new 22 Losi has aluminum chassis, team durango has Alum, it would be awesome for AE to come up with an update or a new B# with alum tub.
Not that AE needs to update the B4.1 much.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Got to wonder who is designing cars over at Losi since Gil is gone?!
On another note, I consider myself lucky to find and buy a brand new set of Associated PN. #6865 Early Edinger front 7-rib tires, still new in the package with the original header "East Edinger" card!
Now if I can find another set of early box art rears, and one more full set of the box-art set as I have two more projects in need of these tires.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
This is Jeremy Harris (Jeff's son) and I going at it during the A-main for 1st place. The track was extra slick due to an all-day rain/fog that you could see your breath in the bldg, yet it wasn't that cold, and it seemed to have left the humidity resting on the track surface each time we went out to run.
Due to this and other factors (collectors and RC10 builds going on all day in the pits) It was more like a having fun day, comparing vintage RC10's with others and helping two guys as they built and tuned their gold racer RC10's.
Jeremy and I both made so many mistakes in qualifying and the A-main, but in the end we were still almost a full lap ahead of 3rd, 4th and 5th at the finish.
Notice the tires I ran in the main, all 4 glued-on and used in the 1990's, then stored all these years and still worked for a few laps before the internal foam gave out in the rear Proline flat fuzzies, with Proline front rib tires.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
I agree, Jim's photos are fantastic but it was an awesome site to see what he was doing all day. How many tracks in the world can you go to and find a guy building a new gold tub racer in stock form right there in front of us all day! It was like going back in time!
I didn't get enough, so I got to go back to the RC Asylum and get more of that vintage RC10 bug.

Hi Ruffy,
Thanks for the setup sheet. I had a question, are the springs you call for on the setup sheet the current AE springs?

We are all heading towards old age. Get there slower by bike.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
I believe they are the same exact springs but not 100% sure. The reason I say this is because I looked at one of those spring kit packs they sell nowdays for the B4, and the black fronts are shorter than the regular B4 front springs, and the green springs I think are the same thing.
The short black front and long rear green springs are the standard springs used in the RC10 Championship Edition, Team Car and World's Car kits.

I thought my CE was green/green? I found AE black at the LHS, I should have bought 2 sets...

At the Asylum is everyone still running double dees in the rear? And what in the front?

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
ribbed tires or barcode fronts are the mainstay in front. Rear, mainly double dees, holeshot 2.0's and/or barcodes if the track gets blue grooved (like after the nitro's race the day before.
