My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Had some time today for what ever I wanted to do, so I decided to build myself that new runner from all new gold anodized items plus my very old, but just freshened, original vintage transmission. She went together very nicely and now all that is left is for me to paint an old Protech Body for her. Wing is finished already as well.
Here are some pics, on the left is one of my '93 World's cars that I am currently running and will serve as my backup car (since my other '93 Worlds car I am leaving shelfed a little longer now), and on the right is the new car. The Airtronics CS2P my radio of choice and the same one (of two I use) that I have been using for around 20 years.
I am using the original servo savers, 32 Pitch gears, etc...
I still need to pick up a "chassis protector" film to try and protect this new chassis.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
If anyone has any 32 pitch pinion or spur gears that I can get for running, please let me know. I only have two sizes, and might have to resort to using 48 pitch gears if I can't locate any.
Oh and if anyone has one of those kydex "under the nose" small round bumpers they'd like to sell. It looks like the one on my worlds car in that picture above. Just a small kydex bumper under the nose.

Can't help you out with parts but just wanted to say, "Nice buggy".

I have a similar Parma bumper in my garage sale ad that could be trimmed and bent slightly to match the one on the worlds car?

I have some 32 pitch gears, new and used, let me know if you still need some.
Nice buggy!

very nice Ruffy, so did you re-ano all the gold? chassis and shocks? it all looks very even in a nice strong gold color. What i like about the idea is that is like when you got your first RC10 and start racing and them mods and then upgrades ... ... very cool stuff.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
fastang, thanks I'll go take a look (in BST area?)
m_vice, no nothing here was anodized by me, this is original AE anodized stuff that I had extra, new in the bag since around 1991-1992 timeframe. Initially I was going to ebay sell it, then found this place and decided just last week to build a gold runner. With some extra old novak electronics I still have, my ancient 6-gear transmission with the Jammin diff and Thorp 48 pitch internals. I used to race this very tranny and gear cover for many years back on the island around the time it first was being sold. I remember special ordering it next day air too!
I did not drill any new holes in this for th battery, rather I chopped an old battery cup, and made myself a fiberglass battery strap with adhesive-sided rubber under it and the screws press down and prevent the battery from moving. Kinda like what JHarris has done with the newer B4 strap, I just made one thats all.
Thanks for the kind comments. She's new, and not a scratch on her but she's going racing.
Jeep_power: As for gears, I'm still working out gear ratios but will need around a 9.45 final ratio with this transmission. I'd like to run 32P gears this next weekend if possible, so if you can help me please let me know. I'd gladly buy them from you.
I have a 54T spur and a 13 T pinion courtesy of rc10johnny, but think that for this stock class they run ( I will be running either this AE Competition Stock motor (cadillac) or the 19T Money Motor) I will need a 56T-62T spur and 13T pinion (I have) times 1.83:1 ratio (6-Gear) just to try and get to an 8.73 ratio.
I can't remember what we used to run for gears back then, but I'll search around.
Thanks for your help guys, I'm just trying to go full racing vintage and see how she does.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
Yeah, been eyeballing it, but think that due to time (this next Saturday) I will be using the self-adhesive chassis protector that JConcepts makes. I think the Harris's have two I can buy from them.
I bought the paint today and need to break-out my airbrush once more for the Protech Body I'm gonna paint for it. She will look old school from top to bottom.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
OK I just bought the one from fastang and hope it can get here before Saturday.
Thanks m_vice for the offer to make one, and to fastang to sell me his last one as well.
Now all I need is to paint the body and get the chassis protector for it.

Re: My New Gold Runner w/ 6 gear
That is a great protecting bumper and I have one on my one and only gold car. Most of it is the original gold car I ran back in the day. I have on NIP and I wanted to keep it that way.
This is the main reason why I started to bye Kindex sheets and making some bumpers for myself. This is why I like the ones I make better. I can keep an original in its bag… But if you can’t use it why have it.
Ruffy when you get it you can trim it a bit and it will work.
Please let me know if you are missing anything, ( I don’t have a lot but may have what you need).
I’ll say it again, It is looking good. Hope you have time to finish the body. I bet it will look awesome.
