Flea Market RC-10 5$

Post by soniccj5 »

Today my local track was celebrating its 10th year anniversary in business. They had free open practice, flea market and a bunch of great deals in the shop.

I bought a new set of springs for the SC10 and hit the track for some much needed practice. I was talking with an old friend in the area where the flea market was(I was trying to stay away), when I spotted a RC-10 with some good parts. It said $20.00. I did not have a $20.00 and the owner of the car said he would take $5.00. I could not pass it up.

Notice the back of the chassis is flat. The wheels did not have any drive axles, and the bulkhead is burnt. As I type this post I can still smell nitro fuel on my hands. I think they had some type of home made rocket on the back of this car.

Tonight I tore it down and got to one of the best parts(IMO).

RPM Steering setup. Does anyone know if I can add bearings to this setup?

The other part I was excited about was the JRX2 wheels on the front.

mice score.
I added bearings to a losi RPM bell crank which looks like it used the same white bushing.
I drilled the cranks out to 5/16" and then used 3/16x5/16 flanged bearings.
The only problem I see with doing that on an rc-10 is that you do not have anything for the bearings to ride on unless you make some standoffs.
the other option is to use the special screws from the rc10gt steering and use 1/8" bore bearings.

Ha-ha, you mice by mistake but the chassis does look like swiss cheese.

Yeah, I think that chassis will be used for scrap metal. Plan on using most of these parts on another build I have in mind using a HotTrick sprint car chassis.
