Wiring and balance

Post by kaszal »

Turned around the battery pack. This makes the battery wires as short as possible. Had to dremel the battery strap (carbon fibre conducts!)

It's also better for balance as the lighter end of the battery is on the motor side of the chassis. I measured some Lipo and Life packs and one end was 14g heavier.

new brass weights

Post by kaszal »

I got some brass flat bar off eBay for £12

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Brass-Flat-Bar-1-1-2-x-1-8-x-12-long-CZ121-/280683906595?pt=UK_BOI_Metalworking_Milling_Welding_Metalworking_Supplies_ET&hash=item415a108623

They cut it for you and it arrived the next day! I used two pieces 1 1/2" x 1/8" x 2 1/2" weighing a total of 130g

They fit underneath the chassis to lower the centre of gravity. As someone told me long ago, I'm noticing the missing weight - a LiPo pack can be as much as 185g less than Ni-mh!

bump steer

Post by kaszal »

I'm getting some bump steer i.e. the front wheels TOE IN when the suspension is COMPRESSED. Please can someone confirm that to remedy this you raise the joint at the hub and/or lower the joint on the steering rod. Thanks.

The guy that sorted the parts for me was Luc De Weerd. Is that him?
