I wash my graphite chassis with a cleaner called "Purple Power" or "Purple Passion". Most auto stores carry it. Very nice degreaser. I use it to wash my tires and engine's on my car and trucks. Simple Green I use every day for my hands (chimney soot) and so far no problems.Halgar wrote:One of the guys over at Clodtalk is a bike fanatic and recommends a citrus degreaser that he uses for cleaning bikes and parts, as well as rc's. The Citra-Solv sounds about right, but I'm not sure if that's what he uses or not.
How To Help? Removal of Clay

Re: How To Help? Removal of Clay
the right scrub brush makes a heck of a difference. on old dried out clay i've seen people use wire brushes! they actually got the clay off with wire brush and simple green and didn't do much more than scuff the tires. i used to race with some guys who wire brushed their tires to purposely scuff them. i've never done this since i keep tires washed after every race and sometimes after every run. but i do have different scrub brushes, some with some stout bristals for tough clay. i've been hesitant to use the wire brush- but i got one just in case!

Jason, I have found it at AutoZone, but I bought my gallon at Meijers, too. I think I have seen it at Sam's Club and other places, as well. Just saw it on the shelf at another store the other day (I can't recall which—might have been Lowe's), so it's still out there.

Purple power is great but it does contain acid so be careful around anodized parts. Simple green is the best thing out there IMO for all around cleaning. I use it all my RC race stuff and my 1.1 truck for cleaning the wheels and tires. Plus at $9 bucks a gallon it's priced right.
Horse power is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far the wall moves when you hit it.
Re: How To Help? Removal of Clay
ive used simple green and purple power on lots of things and they both work great, I didn't have any of that around when I did my clean up, I used Dawn liquid soap and a scrub brush to clean my wheels. It worked pretty good. Of course if you looked at my pictures youd see they were dirty but I guess that's what happens when you play in the sand and dirt.

sure, if you found a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow....... keep in mind the gold might be from the Atocha and at the bottom of the Ocean (ie. long discontinued).

Go to the dollar store and get some "L.A.'s totally awesome". Very cheap, and smells and works just like simple green, only it's yellow.

depending where it is you can always just soak with water... clay will always soften with warm water.
