LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champ Update Pic 1/2013.
Hi, every body.
Some pics of my project, not finish, for now I can't find the right Graphite Sheet , to made a new one chassis
like the Mike car's.
The A&L motor plate is missing too, not available from A&L vintage, and the Novak NER FM receiver too...
The front tower is made with the rocker, ...now I stand the good sheet...

Re: LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champion.
Charlie, I search a graphite uniblack sheet in 0.84 or 0.93 but for now I found only Carbon sheet from Team COBRA.
The A&L motor plate in alloy and a Novak NER3 FM, too.
Isobarik, for the pics I have only the RCCA article with the nats champion 91 car's...

Ok Charlie let me know by PM .
But for the graphite sheet, the Mike car, don't have kick up,
the Front bulkhead is fixed with the rear hole to the chassis.
And Mike used only 10° in more on ...
The chassis look like the Composite Craft...

Re: LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champion.
I have an mms finned motor plate but its black.
You have to make the upper deck shorter also.
So it has the 10 dgree kick up.
I have seen atleast one more lazer with that front mod but havent gotten any closeups to bad.
Some lazer pics from an world 91 tread. Do you have the kydex for the front bumper/gearbox under cover ???

For the Kydex, I use a plastic drill box or screw box ,to make one...
For the front mod, I don't know exactly how is made ?

Re: LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champion.
Its easy you just have to ask someone that had one back in the days.
the hard part is to find that person.

Re: LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champion.
Maybe use the kydex as a hingebetween the main part of the chassis and the part that carries the front gearbox?
You'll have to adjust the belt tension too with a kickup: streteching the chassis or using a belt tensioner, or shorter belt... I hope you find the person who knows.
Kyoshofan2 had a custom made solution to add kick-up on his runner I remember, but no idea if that was based of earlier designs or just his own.

Re: LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champion.
Maybe you can use the Chassi brace for the zxs evo ???
http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/
Carbon bit that is bolted to the chassi then the kick is bolted to the brace.
A longer belt shouldnt been neaded but some filing in the upper deck should be nesecery.
And kydex is rather cheap so shouldnt be that hard to get it right
Why isnt Gil on this forum ??? maybe because he would been bombarded with questions.

Re: LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champion.
I tried it but the problems I had were not worth the agro. The gear box needs a big cut job and has to be really precise as the diff doesnt sit that high from the chassi. Also you have to move it back a bit and make a new top deck and would be an idea to get a front belt with one or two less teeth to account for the angled gearbox. Fibre lyte dont make angled kick up plates unless a large order is placed but FYI the zx-s chassi doesnt work on the zxr and is not very good as a three piecer as it basically flexes loose hence why the team drivers prefered the single one piece chassi. I only use it due to the original one piece chassis not having servo attachment holes. I have the only zxs cf kick up plate on my car.
Downsides to the kick up plate is, flex and due to this the gearbox self destructs due to the pressure of the flex, so keep it simple and avoid if racing and stick with the standard kick up design on the wishbones. However if doing please keep us all updated.

Re: LAZER ZXR Mike DUNN Replica 91 Nats champion.
Hi some up date pics,
Finally I make a new chassis with Composite Craft Sheet, with 7 cells slot.
The upper deck is new too.
The front gear box is fix like say in the article, from the rear, there's 10° in more.
Mike fix the 2 parts of the front gear box together, with small 2mm hex on the axles
like this the down of the gear box is fix together.
I make a new rocker because the first one, have the shock so right
The graphite front limit travel is on, I make a new bump
Puretech scratch
Titanium screw, need some 3mm in alloy and 1 long from JRX2.
The plastic washers on the rear cup shock are on
The large front end from Kyosho too...
For now the body is cut an ready to paint
I'm always after a A&L alloy motor plate, Ball stud and rod end from JRX2 Losi.
Decals: White TEAM LOSI RACING and Pink and Orange fluo too,
White Big KYOSHO, Blue and white KO PROPO and small one white.
and big RACE PREP for the plate (blue) and the body (Orange),
and the Red one for the wing (1 big red/white and 2 red/black).
To finish this one: enjoy...
