Thanks, this is a little re-assuring, although mine has been compressed slightly and has a actual crease, rather than just being bent. I'll try charging in the garage safely and see what happens.
Ahhh... I see you found one of my Chuck pics. Yes he lives in my basement, spends most of his time riding vintage BMX bikes. I can't hate, he's got a nice collection.
When he moved in he said he was gonna help me finish some builds but he's lazy.

I know there's a few of us that are in to BMX on the board, so I thought I'd start a bike thread. I'm mostly in to old freestyle bikes, although I don't do any tricks anymore. I'm a big GT guy. Here's my latest build, a 1984 GT Pro Performer,...

I've built many bikes but this has been the one bike that has never been quite right, for many reasons.
A bit of background - I bought this many years ago and upon tearing it apart for a rebuild I found out that the rear bearing cup was cracked....

I think instead of using the GT parts find period correct aftermarket parts from companies that just made parts(Tioga, Dia Compe, etc). Then find a period correct GT for the GT parts you have.
