B3 CVD's from MIP, odd differences

Post by flipwils11 »

I bought both sets of these from Phil's hobbies on fleabay, about a year apart. I can hardly blame them (too much) because the part #'s and even the UPC's are the same, but notice the description was changed by MIP to remove the "shiny" term and doesn't even look like they included the tube of black grease on the updated package.

You can sort of tell the header card on the shiny pair looks older, so I'm wondering if MIP decided to increase profits and pull costs out of this, but continue to charge the same price? (similar to consumer packaged goods manufacturers today keeping the price the same but reducing the quantity of product included in the box or package)

Of course these parts are ancient so not like I have anyone to complain to. The vendor offered to take them back or refund me $6 because their fleabay auction still had the "shiny" description and image of the earlier shiny version package.

more than likely as the inventory was running out, after they decided to end production, they probably were just using up what they had left. They must have decided to stop selling the shiny but still had b3 header cards.

I'd take the 6 bucks and call it a day unless you really had your heart set on shiny. In which case I would send them back and keep looking.

i've bought quite a bit of mip items. i've only seen a handful of packages that were missing items. mip is great to help you out. the last one i opened was for the rc10. it was missing a pair of couplings. and i had this package for more than 2 years, and didn't know it. lol

I agree - I had a guy from MIP call me personally to apologize for a part that failed and he sent me a new one from California. They just made me a customer for life.
