My finished Mint Boxart JR-X2 5-Link

Post by Cpt.America »

Ok, so it's not 100% done, as I haven't finished the wiring quite yet, but I figured it was pretty close, and it was time to throw together a few pictures of the car. Im sure plenty of you have more work into your cars, but this was quite a project for me, mainly in locating 100% NIP original pieces for the car. Thanks to Rich Truijo for supplying me with some of the items for this car. Here are some of the details:

-The car was built in 89 at sat on a shelf ever since. It has never been wired or run.
-The turnbuckles are a set of titanium buckles. I am looking for some NIP originals to replace them with
-The body is an original shell painted by Jim @ WED. (winning edge designs) Even though im good with an airbrush myself, I couldn't get myself to touch this original shell and risk messing it up.
-I hope to swap out the stock motor for the yellow label mod motor, to better match the box. I have to find a mint cond one to use.
-The batteries are NIP 1400 SCR Nicd cells. Thanks Bob over at stormer for these!
-I'm still torn on how to wire up the rest of the car.

Pictures!

That's one hot looking 'X2'! Great to see a shelf queen with period electrics, really makes it more complete.

Excellent photos too, really bring out the best in the car, hope you don't mind me asking how you achieved such a professional looking shot? I find it so frustrating taking photos of my pride & joy R/Cs with my messy kitchen or garden in the background :-D

Very, very nice! However you decide to finish the wiring, keep it minimal and clean, 'cause this thing is beautiful just like it is.
Thanks for sharing!

It's all about how you prep the photo. This is shot on black glass, with a white background. I shot it with a Nikon D2Xs, with a nikkor 17-55 f2.8 lens. Light came from an alienbees strobe shot through a 3' giant softbox. Here is a shot of the setup... this one was shot with a black background though, instead of the white:

Stunning car and equally stunning shots my friend. I love the black glass idea. I will be using that in future photos now. Team Losi would be proud.

Looks great! Jim does really good paint work, he did my box art RC10 body and a few of my racers.

Need to add my 2 cents worth here....

Absolutely beautiful, love it.

Just the needed motivation to get cracking on my cars.

Possibly the best X2 I have ever seen (and Ive seen plenty). Super great job on keeping it period correct with the electrics too. I almost cringe when I see these older models with brushless now days, it just dont seem right.

Super pics too. Its a real credit to you.
