Ok, here we go...Tell Me What Im Workin With!!!

Post by MONSTER »

Whats in there that I could use to start my FIRST Vintage, and FIRST Buggy Project? I would REALLY like my First to use White Parts. Was there ever a RC10 with Black Chassis and White Parts? If not, I would love to pick up any one of the Butchered Gold Pans thats been posted lately, as long as its still Structurally Sound, looks arent too important. Theres a White Stealth in the Home-Made DS Chassis, and a T3, and a GT Stealth sitting on it. I want to come out of this with a DS and a RC10 Buggy (Buggy having Priority). I know I'll need to aquire a few parts for both vehicles, and would be glad to Trade anything I have, that I dont need for either Project. Now, lets get to work!!

I don't know if there is enough there to make one car, but I do know that the gt rear end and trans have a hard to find aftermarket band brake mounted.
it looks like someone put buggy arms on the rear of the gt. I've never seen a tub gt chassis cut up like that though.

As I said, I know I'll have to get a few parts for both vehicles, but is there anything in any of this stuff that belongs on either car? Just looking for a "Starting Point" for either, or both vehicles. The guy I got this stuff from said he was planning a Sprint Car or something like that. I have some papers of some of his plans maybe I'll post, if anyone is interested, but I have no idea what is in there.

Heres another little pile of stuff:

Ok, I'm far from an asso'xpert, so please feel free to ignore my advise.

My thought is that since you say you don't care about the esthetics too much, you'd better go for all black. You got plenty black parts already and can dye whatever is white still. Plus the new prts will be cheaper and easier to get.
If that nose on the left comes with a nose plate, I 'd mount that to the black tub to get started.
there's a black tower on the bottom and the rear suspension of the GT should fit I guess.

Just have fun with it, figuring out how tp combine stuff which wasn't intended to be used together is great fun.

 Buut Maaa....uh...I mean...I really want it to have "white" plastic...well, MOSTLY anyway. I wont mind a Black Piece "here or there", as long as MOST of it is White. I just want a Vintage RC10 Buggy with white plastic, but also want it to be "period" (?). Like, if there was a Black Chassis with White plastic, I could go ahead and mount the White Bulkhead (along with the White Stealth) I have on the Black Chassis, and replace it on the "Custom" DS Chassis with the Black Bulkhead I have. If not, I could pick up a "Custom Lightened" Rejec...I mean Sub-Standard-Shelfer Gold Tub from one of you guys, or eBay, and use the Black Chassis for the DS...IF that is "proper". Will the White Knuckles I have work/be correct on a Buggy? Does this post post ramble enough? And theres always the possibility I could trade some of this stuff for a reasonable Basher Roller or enough stuff to finish out a Buggy. Most of the DS is done, except I have to figure out a Tranny for it (will the T3 Stealth work).

At first, I was gonna build a "White DS". I came here for info on the DS, and have "accidentally" fallen in love with the RC10 Buggy. All I want, is to end up with a Complete, "Period Correct", RC10 Runner to Show Off. I love the "Old Stuff". I have a Splatmaster Paintball Marker. It was the first marker MADE FOR "the Game of Paintball". The first markers used, were for marking trees and cattle. They used LATEX PAINTBALLS!!!

Any help is much appreciated. Anything in there anybody is interested in, and you have something I may need to go with something else in there, Im willing to deal.

i think your best bet is gonna be finding a nice original rc10 buggy with white parts on ebay or something. you obviously, from the pics you posted, don't have most of what you'd need to build a buggy the way want to. and it'd be cheaper in the long run to fine a nice roller, than to try and piece one together. 99% of the time.

just my opinion, though.............................

Was there ever a RC10 Buggy that came with a Black Chassis and White Plastic?

What is that Nose Plate on the right for?

Nice auction, but I would prefer to "rescue/scavenge" some parts from you guys/eBay, that arent quite "acceptable", by your "standards", and build it up slowly. You know, front arms here, rear arms there, some wheels/tires over yonder, etc. If they are "just good enough to NOT throw away" to yall, they'll be great for me, as long as they are usable (and somewhat white).

Besides, its a LOT easier to talk the Wife into getting a PART, here and there, for a car I "already have", than getting "ANOTHER &^%$ CAR?!?!?!".

hey listen i hear that with the wife/girlfriend lol. looks bad when i get a box everyday of a random part or something, i say bite the bullet and go for a whole car then you only need to hear it once instead of twice a week lol.

but yes, there was a black chassis, white parts car, the team car with stealth tranny, circa 92 ish? something like that

the box in that auction is the right box, just a different version of it.

dirty white parts are pretty easy i find. for filthy parts, ill use oxyclean first with a scrub brush, then some simple green unconcentrated. and if they are still tanned or just "aged", i will bleach them with 2 parts water 1 part bleach overnight, if they dont lighten up substantially, ill either let them soak longer or throw in some more bleach.

i have a bunch of random white parts on hand, really random stuff like a battery cup, front bulkheads, shock tower of fiberglass new, let me know whatcha need

But there in lies the problem, I dont know what I want/need. I guess I need parts for this:

since I HAVE the Black Chassis AND a White Stealth.

Is that Nose Plate on the Right, for a Buggy, a 10T, or does it matter?

Ok, so I already need a Nose Plate, at least, no plans for a 10T in the near future. Maybe someone has a Black Buggy Nose Plate, or even a Gold Tub WITH a Nose Plate to match, thats been hacked that I could pick up Cheap, or trade for something in the pics.

Ok, I guess I'll go start a Classified Thread.

Before I start tradin and swappin and selling and buying, is there anything in my pics that may be valuable, hard to get, and/or rare, that I should hold on to for a later project? (I laaax spaeshual stufff.)

Im too anxious, I have to start putting it together. I'll trade out for white parts when I find em.
So, the Arms that are mounted on the "Pieces of Chassis" on the left would be "correct" for the Team Car mikedealer mentioned? I believe the Fronts are Wide-Trac (compared to NIP Set), is that still ok/proper?

Heres a little before and after, just to show its "level of dirtyness". The only other White Part I have now, is the Rear Bulkhead and Stealth, so I wont bother with anymore Before and After shots. If I get the Bulkhead cleaned, and finish Rebuilding the Trans. tonight (not gonna happen. bulkhead MAYBE..), I'll try to post a pic of that too. If not, tomorrow or Monday for sure. For Cleaning, I sprayed each piece one at a time with a Citrus Cleaner, then scrubbed each one one at a time with Med Toothbrush and dropped in a bowl of Water/Dishsoap. After that short rinse/soak in the Dishwater, I pulled them out one at a time, in order, and scrubbed again, and rinsed with cold water, and.....

Are these parts "Correct" for the Buggy Im going for. Im not sure about the vehicle I broke down for this. It was in Truck form when I got it, but he "may" have told me it was Buggy "Conversion" he did, I cant remember.

As always, any Info greatly appreciated.
