Thanks -
But I really don´t think You should let these old Schumachers tear and wear Your shelf paper. I´d say You´d be better of shipping Your SWB´s to me as a start

If You by that comment mean that the Schumacher transmission is better, then I´ll have to agree.
But I was aiming at building an Ultima with a Schumacher chassis. I´m a bit short on new long goldshocks so it ended up with Schumachers instead :-)

yep, that's all I meant.
The ultima transmission can be great if you take your time and have a few hours running through it. But the lack of a slipper is just deadly on tracks with jumps.
That's really the only reason I have a stealth in my current runner ultima.

Most cars didn't have a slipper back in the eighties. Ed have you tried running the Ultima trannies, but letting off the throttle when landing the jumps? That was the practice then. My only complaint about the Ultima tranny is the spur gear. They are overpriced on ebay (only place to get them) at $20-25. Ridiculous for a spur IMO.

The 0.6module spur that came with the ultima pro is very tough and wears much less than the 32dp spurs, no matter how well you mesh them.
A good quality hardened pinion does make a difference also. If you dair using those old soft alu pinions of tamiya your spur will go bald real quick.

Letting go of the throttle before it hits the ground, yeah, maybe if I was a good pilot I'd manage that ;) On the other hand, that would cause the car to nose dive before landing, right?
I'm happy with the stealth in mine and no longer having to worry about such things :)
