Dyna Storm wing mounts

Post by cunawarit »

Hi guys, how easy are these to find? I'm no Tamiya expert I'm afraid, and I've never tried to buy any rarer Tamiya part like this.

I don't want it for a Dyna Storm I'm actually trying to mount a Wing on a Traxxas Bandit like it would have been mounted on a TRX-1.

Basically trying to achieve this sort of wing mount:

Using a shock tower sort of like so:

And the Dyna Storm wing mount seemed ideal:

So? Impossible to find? Barking up the wrong tree? Is there an easier solution?

Pan cars use these, if you don't care about the look of them I would try there first

Those are hard to find. I found a couple of sets of the BRP bullet wing mounts at a hobby shop. Pretty sure those are discontinued but you might find some somewhere or on ebay.

OK cool :)

Found these in stock: http://www.lefthander-rc.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21&products_id=444

Now oval RC racing here in the UK is totally different than it is the USA. So sadly I can't get hold of the part locally...

LOL! OK :) It doesn't seem like the most complex part in the world, I am sure there's an alternative somewhere with everyday hardware shop bits...

Well, a standoff (i get them from McMaster carr) has 2 threaded ends and comes in many lengths. If you drilled the wire holes in the side you could put a screw in one side and a grub in the other, it would cost you under a $1 for the standoffs. They are aluminum. Not sure about metric, but they have 4-40

Used on the Top Force too.

Hard to find now & if you do they cost a arm & a leg.

I use Losi wing mounts or Kyosho Lazer zx5.

Way better set up. No buttons or wire to deal with.

if you chose a standoff from mcmaster, I'd probably use 93330A515, 7/16" long, #4 screw. Of course, if you wanted metric, you could always do that. check electronic suppliers in your area, they have to sell standoffs. usually referred to as PCB standoffs, etc.
