First project in the new hobby room - a couple of runners
My wife and I just moved into a new house, and I have claimed a spare bedroom downstairs as my own. I had a little workshop at the old place, but it was in a separate building, and it rains a lot here. This is much cozier and easier to get to.
I haven't even unpacked everything yet, but that can wait. I have a new IKEA table, a couple of evenings off, and I'm itching to build something (besides the table, I mean ). So, I've gathered from my boxes of odds and ends everything I need to refurbish my old RC10CE beater, and build an equally well-used 10T.
First up, some Goo Gone and elbow grease. Those tubs are nasty.

And so it begins looking good. We have to meet up for show and tell some time

Wouldn't ya know it... I know I have a bottle of Goo Gone somewhere in this mess, but it's nowhere to be seen. I'll have to pick some up tomorrow so I can finish cleaning up the tubs.
Did manage to get a couple transmissions ready to roll:
I didn't have outdrive bearings for the white and gold one, so it has brand-new bushings for now. That car is only getting a 540 anyway, so it isn't a big deal. I'll grab some bearings next time I'm at the hobby shop.

In the spirit of these being mongrels, I think I'm going to swap the tubs, because, well, I can.

I don't know why but "You got your peanut butter on my chocolate!" comes to mind.

One truck, one buggy. And just wait - the shocks I have are blue (most of them anyway) and the gold tub is getting a brushless motor that's anodized orange. They'll look more like a bowl of M&Ms by the time they're done.

They started doing that one Worlds car, I think, and then they must have just started making them all that way. I have one CE with white plastic and a square nose plate, and this one and another with black plastic and this pointy style. It lets you set the servo flat against the chassis, which is kind of nice.REMJ666 wrote: How did the nose plates get pointy...All of mine are squared off ???

Buggy chassis more or less assembled:
(sorry about the crummy phone photo. Camera battery is dead.)
Blue nose tubes because they're straighter than the original silver ones, and yes, those front shock caps are purple. Anybody know anything about these? I appear to have 3 of them.

Bad Boyz....... back in the day....... would reanodized factory parts in different colors (purple, green, etc). or it could've just been a custom job done by a previous owner.

Ah, thanks. They were in a box of miscellaneous parts I got as part of a big lot. Not sure if I like them enough to keep them on there or not.scr8p wrote:Bad Boyz....... back in the day....... would reanodized factory parts in different colors (purple, green, etc). or it could've just been a custom job done by a previous owner.

Got a full set of 4? Flipwils could maybe use them on his purple B3.
