Body repro

Post by vwjuice »

I don't know where to post this so mods please feel free to move it wherever it needs to go.

If you have a lexan body that is discontinued and you want to reproduce it............. Is there a way to do that?

I know its not exactly what you asked, but teambluegroove will take yours as a donation, make a mold, and send you 3 reproductions as well as 50% off an order of any others they make. I have been very happy with mine! Got a bunchmore to send them too!

I was thinking of some old Dahm's bodies. I haven't seen any of those being reproduced anywhere.

I did not know that. Thanks for the info. I did find this video showing the process to making a mold and the following videos he has show the rest of the process to make a body.

i can't find it, but if i remember right, it had to do with the owner of the dahm molds going after anyone that reproduces one of his shells. he's technically still in business............ in his mind.

I think Vans Invent was the guy or company that has/had the Dahm's molds. But does this guy/company still own the current rights to the molds and have enough power to actually go after someone who repops them? I doubt it. TBG makes so many repros of bodies by big name companies and gets away with it. I think he even makes TLR22 and new stuff that you would think has to be patented or copywritten.

I want a Screamer, Champion, Ruff-E-Nuff S.E. and Devastator if you're planning on having any of those reproduced.

I don't have anymore dahm's bodies but I know someone that has a commando body. I'm trying to convince him to have it repopped.

That really sucks if he's really going after anyone that repos them. They were great bodies and I wish he was still in business.

Tbg is doing new stuff like the tlr 22. I saw those today on their site.

I will end up trying the mold process to repro a few bodies I have that are old ofna ones that are beat up.

It sucks that people want to own the right to NOT sell it to people that want it and go after those that do. Hell I'd consider it a compliment. What's up with all these lexan guys  just make us what we want and let us pay you for it...then we don't need to copy it!

Exactly. All I want is a few bodies for the cars I'm rebuilding. It just happens that I want all different Dahm's bodies except for one Toyota body that I can't find.
