The original short wheelbase Cat was one of my favorite R/C race cars of all time. I've been searching for a clean one for almost 7 years now, and have missed out on more than I care to admit.
My first Cat was eventually updated to XL specs with a graphite TRC/Composite Craft chassis and upper deck. It had the Trinity nylon diff and upper shaft and was a fantastic car to race. It was a pain to work on, but a joy to drive, and blisteringly fast.
I have a box of new parts waiting for my perfect project car to come along. With the vintage market heating up recently, it will take a lot more cash to pull a nice example when it pops up.
Your car is a great start.

The first CAT short wheel base have seen ,was from a friend and it was the first in FRANCE.
Yes this is an XLS with MMS option like belt ,...
I have a PROCAT too, an another project , I have handmade a new chassis and upper plate in black color at this time.
And I have too an ACE PB Racing in rebuilt, but the parts are REALLY HARD to find and I handmade the chassis and shock tower in graphite, too.On the pics , I receive the car like that !!!

Re: CAT futur project
This Cat looks to be in good shape, I think it should clean up nicely.I was just wondering what you have done with those front pivot brackets. Is this how people widened there CATs before schumacher made The XL 250mm track conversion kit.

Re: CAT futur project
On your Cat there are Two pivot brackets (part no.T006) that are cut down on both sides of the gear box.I think this was a modification done on the world champs car to widen it but I am not sure.

Re: CAT futur project
This modification is made by the guy who have the CAT before , this modification change the front wide and the front caster angle.. I never use this on my CAT when I race , I don't know why because the car work really well out the box...
