-Tried shrink-tube, but the only one I had that was big enough to fit the bearing O.D. was perhaps a bit too thick, and when I'd try to insert the shrink-tubed bearing, it just pushed off the tube.
-Slightly better results had with electrical tape, but a similar problem happened when pressing the bearing inside the housing; some of the tape would push off and the final result, though it more or less worked, was rather messy-looking.
I'll try the tin can idea, that sounds promising and wouldn't cause the problems that the tape/tube did. I think I'm trying to get a 9mm bearing inside a 3/8" hole--just over 9.5mm--so there's not a lot of space to make up for. Might be able to try that out tonight. Last night for some reason I got obsessed with sorting & organizing parts, picking out all the flat-head and 2.6mm screws from a bin filled with random nuts 'n' bolts, because it seems whenever I need either of those, I can never find one quickly enough.
