I would suggest reading the rctech.net thread on modding the radio or you should buy / pay someone to get it done for you. The mods make an inexpensive radio that is good, even better. I was skeptical about quality and stuff but honestly I think its pretty darn good.

There are definitely good reviews from here and other places on the flysky unit. the only negatives i have read are the short battery life and problems using them around other FSGT3B users, which to me seems weird but i am new with this technology. I am about to buy one and put the lipo mod on it and an extra rx for about $70 shipped, but my gut is still telliing me to get an entry level Futaba 3PRKA or get an Associated XP3-SS, for about the same money or less. I plan to use it with a 1/12 pan car on an indoor oval, novak club brushless setup

i would keep on using my Futaba or Airtronics 75mhz am tx/rx but they dont seem to work well with a brushless setup

I have two modern systems, the GT3B and an Airtronics MX-Sport. The GT3B was $35 an the MX was $100. The MX is more adjustable but I've never had any problems with the GT3B. A new receiver for the GT3B is $7. For the MX-Sport it is $60. I have 3 cars running from the GT3B and only 1 from the MX as a result. I hear guys at the local track complain that the GT3B causes interference or that is just plain sucks and doesn't hold adjustments. I haven't had any of those problems. My MX has also never had interference from GT3B users. The Spektrum systems seem to be the only ones affected. They also seem to be the ones that have the most issues here with binding problems. Needless to say I'll never buy a Spektrum.

For modernizing older cars I see no reason not to use the GT3B. It's cheap and works well. Far better than my old EX-5 that I loved as a kid. For racing use and a bit finer adjustment I like my Airtronics. I haven't updated by GT3B at all and see no reason too.

if you want a nice gt3b setup, get one hacked from losikid.

http://overkillrc.webs.com/

you pay a little more, but you can do a hell of alot more with it once its been hacked.
