I will go eat some spinach and get to bending...Or straightening lol...gomachv wrote:I always use a good sturdy table edge, a good eye, and my almost 300lbs to muscle it back. You will get to the point that you can get the tweak back straight again with ease after doing it a few hundred times lol

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
i think he was just saying that without the nose tubes it will bend ( i know that too well ) i find if the radio is too close to the car it glitches some times so i try to keep it back a couple of feet .. the velcro trick is a good idea for extra wire

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
it's too late for nose tubes, it's already bent.......... a lot.integra22t wrote:i think he was just saying that without the nose tubes it will bend

if put a straight edge down the center of that chassis it has to be up another 10 degrees. minimum. the one side shot on the first page shows it clear as day, right under the ball studs on the steering bellcrank. it's probably bent where the arm mounts attach too.

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
Nose plates are easy to bend back, the chassis not so much. The last one I did was sandwiched between wood and put in a big table vise. I then screwed a 2x4 to it and kept slowly bending it back untill it was straight.
Firstly I tried standing in the middle with the chassis supported between two blocks, even jumping on it which didn't work so I had to resort to the vise.

Go down to the 4th pic and you can clearly see that it is twisted...I just straightened one of mine and it isn't that hard...Just take your time and check often so you don't bend it in the other direction...wickedcrawler wrote:where do see mine bent at? you mentioned the nose peice

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
I was thinking about getting some new tubes or could I get some carbon rod and use that? Another thing.. Where can I get some rear tires for a decent price? I'm gonna bake these wheels in the oven and take off the rear tires soon.

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
For rear tires, wait a couple of weeks and order some of the re-re tires, maybe even rims. They should be fairly cheap then.

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
I am waiting on stuff also from the re re release...Screws , hinge pins stuff like that...I think all the main parts like the chassis and plastics are different in some way but the screws and stuff should be the same...Why pay 2 to 5 times more on Evil bay when they are just a couple of bucks at tower...Oh yeah the shock rebuild kits [ internals ] will be nice to get for the bottom load shocks also...I think the whole re re kit will hurt the value of our old cars some but I didn't buy mine thinking that it will ever be worth a million dollars either...Hopefully someone will make different tires for the re re also that way we don't have to buy the same knobby tire...

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
I would imagine almost everything will be interchangeable except for the chassis and rear bulkhead due to the lipo mods. Well and the shocks will be later top load style. The parts will not be a perfect match for the person who looks at them with a magnifying glass, but for the average owner they should be, as the saying goes, "good enough for government work" and be good to use as replacement parts.

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
They will be...You can always take a vintage chassis , nose plate , motor plate and then use all re re parts to make a classic / re re runner lol...I think the biggest fear is that people are gonna use the re re parts on the old cars and then try to sell them as originals on EBay...Everyone who still wants 1 or 2 more vintages will really have to watch what they are buying because of that....

Re: Check Out My New Ride!
Update: Ive been working on the buggy quite a bit lately. Found some more issues with it. One of the bellcranks was glued. See pics and the pink stuff on the one bellcrank was where it was glued. It broke when I took the ball stud out while disassembling the chassis. Right now I've got the parts soaking in peroxide. got about 4 hrs of sun today. Tomorrow will be nice here. So ill put it out again tomorrow. The parts aren't that yellow but I want em to look best I can get them. I painted the body and did some work to it retrimming it etc.. Went with royal blue and black plastidip 2 tone scheme. Ill post pics up soon when I get the car back together. The nose peice is pretty darn bent. Will take some work.
