kyosho ultima clone, do you know what is it?
kyosho ultima clone, do you know what is it?
Hello everybody,
I am new here.
I am from Italy and I have +100 RC vintage electric buggy of the 80s and 90s.
In the following pictures is one of my new entries. But I do not know what it is... Can someone help me?
It is 99% complete but 1 gear is missing so if I will not understand what is, I will never be able to complete and use it...
Just for information... the motor is fitted by me.

Re: kyosho ultima clone, do you know what is it?
The only ultima clone I knew of was the one from Sinyih that was imported to the USA as a Dialed Racing Lightning. Unfortunately it looks quite a bit different.
The arms do look very familiar, I keep thinking I have seen a arm design like that from Ofna back in the day- not sure if HoBao or Hong Nor as both were branded Ofna here

It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Re: kyosho ultima clone, do you know what is it?
The gearbox is a clone with small adjustments of the nitro tracker/outrage, so it must from the same area - Younger than the Ultima - The top deck is cloned from a Kyosho onroad/pan car with the prefix FX

Interesting. Is this a vintage buggy or a current car based on the ultima?

Just PM me Your address.
There´s a good chance that the gears are kyosho size, open the gearbox and take a couple of pictures.

What manufacturer would have left the markings on the chassis plates from the raw sheet of aluminum they were cut from (bottom view)??

I found this at tamiyaclub, it's the same top plate on another car.
Doesn't help much but...
Here's a link.

Re: kyosho ultima clone, do you know what is it?
You´re welcome - glad it arrived.
The other day I ran across a car like Yours, it was a prebuilt NIB Mercedes onroad and badged by the German company Robbe.
So take a stroll through German Ebay and look for Robbe parts.

I have the exact same car. It is branded as a Robbe 1:10 High Performance Car.
I have bought it in the Netherlands about 15 years ago at my local RC shop and have raced it at their track for about five years. Over the years I have upgraded it to be a pretty fast car, with the Corally engine being the biggest contributor to this.
These cars were pretty popular at my club at that time, due to their high strength chassis and their durability. Mine has had some pretty rough collisions with fences, tires and even lamp-posts and it has never broken down. The only weak spot I can remember are the links that hold the rear suspension arms. As I upgraded the power these would sometimes come lose upon accelerating hard from a corner.
All cars that were racing had touring car bodies. I have never actually seen one with a buggy setup. I started out with the original Opel / Vauxhall Calibra body and later replaced that with a McLaren F1 LM body that I painted orange/yellow to match the original.
They were sold as nitro versions as well. I have found one on Ebay if anybody is interested
I still have the manual and partts list in the box. I have scanned it to PDF and put it in my dropbox. Nice to have that I think? You can also see that the 13T gear you were missing was actually a 15T gear... Mine is still complete and running well, but I am very interested in learning more about that Italian shop that still has some parts left.
Could you PM me their details?
Finally, some pictures of my car:
