I offer a challenge...
I offer a challenge...
I know alot of you have a lot of rc10 junk parts and crappy tubs laying around. Okay I don't "know" this, I'm just guessing.
Anyway, I've always wondered what it would take to build an RC10 MONSTER TRUCK.
Not a stadium truck, but an actual monster truck.
I think I'm gonna attempt it with my junky white tub.
So if anyone else is up for the challenge, I'd like to see it.
And before someone says it can't be done... improvise. Use parts from a toaster if you have to. Use some spit and glue $#&%!
Anyone? Anyone? Anyone?

Re: I offer a challenge...
Before there were stadium trucks at all we all had monster truck converted 10s to race in the "Heavy Metal" class. JG made the one that i had. I'm up for it though... sounds like fun. Any limits, guidelines, rules or such... anything goes no holds barred high flying car crushing action (insert echo here)?

There used to be one monster truck based on the gold tub on the Associated web site. It was 4wd with two Stealth trannies if I remember well. Can't find it now.

Re: I offer a challenge...
Well, any vehicle that is built around Clodbuster axles is considered a "clod". Same goes for the Juggernaut, Hi Lift, and every other rc variant out there. So, following that line of logic, it is the drivetrain that makes a vehicle a "clod" or a "jugg" or whatever. That would mean that at least the 10's drivetrain would be required to make a 10 Monster.
Should be interesting to see some Jumbo Kongs (8" tall clod tires) grafted onto a 10 chassis.

Re: I offer a challenge...
I think we're all sort of purists hear... maybe we limit it to AE ONLY parts.
Re: I offer a challenge...
I say all out no rules (within reason). No point in just bolting a bunch of parts off a Blackfoot or Clod onto the goldtub, that's no fun. Just be creative. Use only what you already have? (maybe) or make/fabricate the pieces you need.
But I call no deadline... because I'm poor and don't have too many extra pieces. *sniff*
I like the idea of RC10 parts only. I mean, I'm not gonna go run to the hobby store for this. Just something to try to see if it can be done... and how well.
Have fun with it and eventually wanna see some pics.
Idiot me... realizes you'll actually NEED some monster truck tires and wheels, so I guess there goes that rule.
The heck with it... No Rules means no rules. In the words of a wise man "To limit creativity is to... sumthin, sumthin, yada yada."
Haha I like the edit button. Let's say you get more props/points for the more RC10 you use and less other/aftermarket stuff.
Stand by for my next edit.

I'm in. Are you gonna keep this thread up top so everyone sees it? Things like this have a habit of disappearing.

Re: I offer a challenge...
What about the conversions? Proline, CRP, JG, Andy's...etc I mean you would need some non-AE parts, like wheels or wheel adapters, body mounts etc.
I've been looking for an excuse to do something with my PL conversion (rather than dumping it in Halgar's lap so he'll have something RC10). And I actually have a 1992 Parma Grave Digger shell and decal sheet...
No rules, no judging, just build and show.

Maybe we can get one of these guys to sticky it to the top for us.Tadracket wrote:I'm in. Are you gonna keep this thread up top so everyone sees it? Things like this have a habit of disappearing.
mrlexan, shodog, scr8p
If not them, then Hoopty or Mel can do it.

Re: I offer a challenge...
Yeah, a sticky would work, if anyone wants to. Maybe move it to readers rides or something. As for "my rules", I just thought of it, not really wanting it to be a big technical thing or contest with judging and rules. Just see what we can come up with and have at it. I say the only "official rule is...
1) Make an RC10 into a monster truck.
That's it. I think it'd be cool.
As for deadline, I just figure, whoever gets there's up first get's theirs up first. Let's see em all as they get done (or in the process of).

Re: I offer a challenge...
didn't bru-line make a set of modular wheels and adapters that would let you put clod size tires onto just about anything?
I'm sure someone one here has a set, or at least the old add from RCCA with the details.
That would make a nice start. Combine it with a 2.6 stealth conversion gearbox and you would be well on your way.
