My first ever efforts in painting lexan with horribly poisonous Tamiya paints. Really horrible chemicals.
Making window masks.
Masks in place.
Shell has no overspray film so having to improvise.
First coats are Tamiya Mica Red, one of the colours Arcocustom used on his Beetle shell.
You'll notice that in fact I added black features to the body first of all. Then backed up the red with silver as suggested by Arcocustom. Got some really good lines and some not so good with the Tamiya tape. I have also decided to add a feature of white circles on the doors to place the number 4 decals in.
Nice job with the paint, I still have to get around painting my tamiya sand scorcher, was thinking camel yellow but very confused with what paint scheme to go with, I have decided to go with mate black. I think it will contrast well with the alloy parts. A neutral color that will blend well.
I have posted some pics posted on DennisM's post of 'beefy scorpion'
So a year long I'm looking at fitting more of the Assault parts to the Beetle. The Assault rollings chassis already donated it's bumper to the all original Scorpion (just order a body for that), its wheels to the Beetle and it's rear shocks too. However the Beetle is still running a 1983 style front end so the beefier Assault front shocks and other hardware for the donor car are there ready to use. In addition there is the one piece cross braced rear arm mounting plate which I believe they supply with the rereleased Scorpion these days.
Assault chassis today:
Cross brace.
8mm shocks on Beetle:
Notice the clamps holding the front arm shaft on a different too:
Yeah the Assault chassis was a great buy what as it the gearbox also contains a silky diff not to mention pretty straight rails and the rear cross member.
Here is a chassis I have been working on, came to a standstill when I tried to mount my Parma shocks, the front shocks are too long.
Had a talk with Lars, seems I need to make taller shock mounts for the Parma's as he did with his Parma Scorpion....

RC front sway bar hey? Don't know that I've heard of this. I bastard iced an Optima rear sway bar for my Turbo Scorpion. I'll post photos in due course. I would be interested to find a bespoke front bar for the Scorpion series though.
I found an old “Scorpian” racer on eBay… no no, that’s not correct! “Mikedealer” brought this car to my attention and “Lowgear” gave me the link! And now it have found new home in Gothenburg Sweden and will be these guys forever grateful! But it was...

Awesome!
The reinforcing for the front end looks like it would be pretty hard on the plastic radio tub :?
Was very lucky to end up with this old racer.
One of my favorites for sure.
Jim Schauer's Scorpion with an original Andy's painted body. Haven't seen many that ran the Mip trans.

Definitely!
This was an Srb with a Yok trailing arm mod.
That's about the least SRB parts left on an SRB that I've ever seen
The COX/ Kyosho Scorpion had its peak on the track 83-85 until the RC10 hit the tracks! This will be an effort to build a 26 year old Turbo Scorpion racer with some hop-up parts from CRP + some others. You could say that the Scorpion was the first...

Yes, got my Beetle last night.
Awesome to build.
Now I just miss all the pieces you have said and some that I think just looks cool.
Straight off the bay, it is pretty rough but I can see some potential here:
Not that I don't have any other builds in progress, but it's time to add one. Like most of my projects, it will be raceable, and stems from an inspirational snapshot. In...

Love the paint and the deep dish sand rover rear wheels. Some day I'll get motivated to build my scorpions up
This little Kyosho Scorpion beetle has been a long running project of mine that has just about taken me 2 years to complete. Not content with the Tamiya SRB beetle I wanted something a little more 'racer' orientated and the Turbo Scorpion seemed...

Those tires look badass. How is the tranny holding up to the 19turn?
OK, wanna get an opinion or 2 (or 10). I picked up a chassis from one of our good members here with the intent of cutting the kickup off for a little bit different car build.
the problem is, the chassis is what I think is a TQ10 chassis. it's...
