AE Logo Display Stand
I drew this up today and put it up on the ShapeWayes site. A bit pricey but cool. I can't remember who had done this before I know i got the idea from here but can't find the post.

I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

Re: AE Logo Display Stand
Yeah I'll work on one of those too. The problem with shapeWayes is that they are reasonable for relatively small stuff but larger stuff like the first model I uploaded of the ae logo stand that was 3"x8"x3" was like $400 for their base material. Way to much. I got it down to about $100 by making it 2"X5"x3" approximately. So I'll see what a Losi will run. Also I only tagged on $3 for my modeling work on it per print. Pointing that out so you all don't think I'm trying to ream any body.

Re: AE Logo Display Stand
This is the one I did a few years ago and as you mentioned the cost to produce was way too high, north of $400 for a hi-res Polyjet model. I've thought about making a mold to cast them in resin but just haven’t had time to pursue.

I'd buy 50 if they were cheap enough.

Re: AE Logo Display Stand
He's talking about 3d printing them.
I find the AE logo to be fairly simple. It seems like a subtractive method would be more cost effective.
Id also be worried about the stand supporting the car. I didnt look up the whole model but I see a few apparent weak points.

Honestly it doesn't seem to hard to machine. Solid block of aluminum, machined, brushed then anno'ed.

The way I modeled it was to save cost. The first one I submitted was a lot heftier and larger but ran in the neighborhood of $400 for the base material.
Definitely alloy would be cooler. I'm not sure it would be cheaper though.

Re: AE Logo Display Stand
Very nice! I guess the hollow sections are to save on material? Not sure if I like that! I think the latter in a cast would be nice. Should be cheap enough to make a cast with these products:

Re: AE Logo Display Stand
yeah, without following the links to the site I figured it at that price it was something more substantial than 3d printing. Casting them would be cool and as mentioned I think it would be an easy machining venture. Personally I don't need them that big. Might be something a machinist could do affordably at your smaller dimensions.
I'm thinkin even my 1/8 scale doesnt even weigh what your all alloy rc10 weighs dmat
