Re: 260 km ! Faster than Nicky Hayden
That is definitely fast considering where he was riding. All those cars and construction going on. I would never try that in traffic. Once I took my bike out on a lonely stretch of straight road and blasted it up to 163mph/262kph. The wind noise is deafening. I've seen yout tube videos of similar bikes doing much more but I have no desire to top mine out. So many things could go wrong and at that speed you will definitely die.

At that speed, no gloves, no helmet, no difference...one driver changing lanes unexpectedly and all that's left is a wet smear wrapped with tattered rags.

Wow thats way to fast for all of that traffic I have been 150mph on my Kawasaki GPZ 750 on a back road and that was more than fast enough for me. going fast doesnt bother me its haveing enough room to stop that gets to me.

Re: 260 km ! Faster than Nicky Hayden
Wow, it looks like it takes him about 8 seconds to get from 80 to just over 200. I wonder what he is riding? Seems to be a Honda of some sort.
But yeah, a bit of a death wish on that road.

Not sure what the bike is in the first post but the video I posted is on an '07 cbr1000rr like mine. These bikes are incredibly fast. Faster than most cars out on the road. The acceleration is phenomenal, you twist the throttle and hold on for dear life.

Yep, much faster than my little gs500. Although even it is fast enough to get you in lots of trouble.
Re: 260 km ! Faster than Nicky Hayden
even the second vid, take one back field rabbit or squirle to run out,
Ill stick with my Ninja 650 and not being all that fast, (i think i topped it 125 before i changed the sprockets). and that once was good enough for me.
I am happy to say i dont have the balls to pull what those 2 videos show, Been in enough scares at 45 mph is enough.

It's amazing what a difference the vehicle makes. In my Mercedes CLS @ 160mph I could go to sleep. 145mph in my old Elise 111R with the roof down was much more noticable. On a bike it must be madness.

When your driving at 160 in your Mercedes, roll down your window and stick your arm out. Realize your whole body feels like that on a bike.

Re: 260 km ! Faster than Nicky Hayden
Not faster than Nicky or anybody else in Motogp since they hit about 218mph, much faster than 260kph (which is only about 160mph) on the longest straights but still pretty fast. Ive topped my '08 CBR1000RR out to 178mph multiple times (but only on clear, minimal traffic freeways) yeah it's crazy but I've seen crazier street riders taking bigger risk.
My '08

This will probably be my last year riding. Pushing 40 and not a lot of free time anymore...

Thanks. It's a great bike. Handles and feels like a 6 but with much more power. You see my tire lettering fetish has carried over...shodog wrote:Sweet looking bike Smoke dog. I've yet to ride a '08 but sometime I will

Re: 260 km ! Faster than Nicky Hayden
I can't keep tires on mine long enough to be concerned about painting the lettering. Day to day commuting wears tires out fast but on the upside it's like commuting to work ona FerrariSMOKE-DOG wrote:Thanks. It's a great bike. Handles and feels like a 6 but with much more power.
