I also have the Wasp high torque gearbox waiting for me to find something to attach it to.
Great, thanks! The memories keep coming back
I also remember having to get a spur gear adapter so that I could run the orange coloured 48dp spur gears that were made by......? ......what was that company called? The header cards were orange in colour as well.
It's been a long time!
Funny though, I can still remember exactly how much I paid for my Novak T-4 esc........£74.95 .....a lot of money for me back then.

Thanks for the very kind offer but this is just a trip down memory lane. As much as I'd' love to find a 'project' Top Cat on eBay to tear-down and rebuild, the usual factors of time, money and space won't allow. Sadly.
Now, if I still had my original Top Cat, it could well be 'game on'!

They were made by RW Racing (Also known as SRM)
RW and SRM are not the same.
RW made (and still makes) special parts for several cars, sold by them but also trough shops and OEM for international distributors.
SRM was a shop specialized for offroad racing. From what I remember the shop was owned by Bill Jones who was a very good driver also in the 80s. Some of the RW parts were exclusively made for them but I think early SRM parts maybe have been made by Nodis also. I think SRM don´t exist today.
I have a quick question I was hoping someone could help with.
Do the Topcat and the original Cougar share the same chassis?
Apart from the front end damper design, what other changes were made to the cougar?

Thank you for the comments everyone. It was very helpful.
These cars dont seem to come up for sale so often, so I was just looking into the possibility of restoration using Cougar parts.
Well....in my qwest to collect some of my favorite cars from the '80's, I came across this at a local swapmeet. Dig the Marui Big Bear tires... The ol' Cat needs a little love, that's for sure. But with Ebay and the help of this board, I hope...

Can I see some pictures of how those big bear wheels were fitted to the shumacher axles please?
(Just for inspiration : I own neither the car nor wheels)
I've already taken 'em off and gave 'em away..... :D
But let's just say the mounting was...
Well another pic this time of my TOP CAT. I got this in a Trade with Jason ( Bormac) He put one of his classic paint jobs on it for me.( Thanks Jason ) It came with no shocks so i have...

Despite my best efforts with this car its the 'ratio' of those pivot rockers thats the real problem. Even with the heaviest of coils and dampening the front end still feels too light at times. Not like the upright set up at all.
Clawing it's way out if a box of styrofoam peanuts is a decently nice original Top Cat! I was really happy to work out a deal for this TC with the buyer of a 4x Schumacher lot. Was a lucky connection after he bought my K1 Aero. The TC buggy design...

Very cool option! Underdog for Top Cat? 🤣 They had a little fun naming that one.
Yup Kevin Frewer has an interesting sense of humour, mind you he is a kiwi after all😂. His hand built tooling and machines are pretty impressive too! I was lucky...
