Re: Some tuning options for racers and runners
Here's my first crack at the shims... without seeing a picture of them I made some assumptions. The rear edge is .020" thick (half a milimeter), it can't really go to a knife edge, but I figured .020" would be reasonable. The other thing I don't know is how they handle the holes. I made them perpendicular to the top surface where the arm mounts sits, but that puts them at an angle relative to the surface where the shim sits on the chassis. Any input on these two things?

Re: Some tuning options for racers and runners
the ones I have seen were simple moldings, so the holes were straight through. It's not a real big deal, yours looks like they will work perfectly.

Here are shots of the wedges. One shot is of the tops. You can see that the tops aren't flat. The other shot has the left one flipped over. The bottom is smooth. The holes are drilled straight through, perpendicular to the bottom.

Re: Some tuning options for racers and runners
That's probably as close as you can get without actually having one to directly measure and even then you've probably got it. It's such a simple part anyways. Run with that one.

Re: Some tuning options for racers and runners
Thanks for your help Fred. I'll probably have a pair made once I have another part or two to try at the same time. I like to purchase at least two models at a time to combine the shipping.fredswain wrote:That's probably as close as you can get without actually having one to directly measure and even then you've probably got it. I do the same thing. I'm always trying new things. I probably order from Shapeways every 2 weeks or so.

Hi mk-Zero,
Wow, that's amazing
I have nothing but respect for you and the guys that can do this for us.
When will they be available?
And the caster wedges.
Cheers, Dave.

Re: Some tuning options for racers and runners
Thanks!
I'll order some from Shapeways soon, it will probably be ~ 3 weeks before I receive them. Once I verify they fit and work as intended, I'll let you buy that set directly from me if you like, so you don't have to wait 2-3 weeks. Otherwise after I check them out I'll make them avalable on Shapeways. Same for the wedges.
