Got it painted! I've done a little bit of assembly as well. Most of my parts are still soaking in peroxide though. I'll give them about a week more soaking time. I still need to order a few more parts that I missed anyway.


The color isn't too far off from the original gold anno. Should look good once I get all the white parts on it. The bulkhead, rear arm mounts and the trans brace will be the only re-re parts as far as the plastics go.

Thanks guys! Hopefully the remaining parts I need will get here soon and I can get this thing done. You wouldn't want to paint an off-road chassis, but for on-road this paint should last a long time.

The build is postponed one week for powder coating. I'll be working on assemblies until I get the pan back. I went with a light blue. It's all DaveM's fault.

I called the powder coaters today and they still haven't got to me yet. They were swamped when I dropped it off so it's no surprise. Hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week. I'm starting to run out of stuff to do. Probably start on the wheel restoration while I'm waiting.

I guess I'll show what I have so far. Really pleased with how the parts came out. The front arms were super greasy and yellow. Should have taken some shots of how they looked before. The MIP cranks came out good too. I whipped up the sway bar just this morning.


Lots o' stuff ready to be installed.


NOS Paragon 15T mod, Novak T-4, Futaba R102JE and S-148 almost ready to go.


The old six gear is new again. I shimmed the idler shaft, pressed and polished the spine plate and polished all bearing surfaces. The outdrives were polished and blued. I used re-re idlers, nylon diff tube bushings and felt seals. Full bearings installed.


I'm waiting on the ludicrously small allen wrench to come in so I can finish the idlers and button it up. Man that's a small wrench!


I went with gold shafts on my 56 stroke re-re shocks.

No, you haven't done anything wrong. Some replace the felt and retainers with bearings. In my experience, it looks sweet but tightens up the transmission. Here is a poor pic of one of my 6 gears with bearings in place. You haven't made a mistake on your first RC10 build
