That was a 31,000 original mile car I found here locally, I built a 2 liter with CB fuel injection and I made a custom alt conversion for it. Should have never let that one go. It was sold to a guy in SoCal.

Yup, you're right. Should have kept it!
As they say though, hindsight is always 20/20.

Now this is perfection!!!
Thank you for sharing your photos - there's some real gorgoeus VWs there - some real raritys too!... That barn door 23 window Samba!
I've been a massive VW fan since my parents had a 65 Beetle when we were children, & have been going to many of the shows here in the UK (& some on the continent) since my late teens. I've never owned an aircooled Dub - but would love a Beetle one day, I have however owned a German import Type 25 (or T3) Whitestar Multivan with a horrible diesel engine & I still own (for ten years now) my 1979 VW Derby.
Its great to see the enthusiasm for the marque is still strong in California - the birthplace of the modified Beetle... the Cal-look or 'Resto-Cal' style is synonimous to the VW scene. Its also nice to see that the humble bug is still the most popular VW at such shows, over here it the Transporters/Camper vans that are the most numerous - often Beetles are fairly few & far between!

Re: VW people, anyone else going to the VW Classic?
Next year you gotta make it out for sure! Maybe I'll have my 57 on the road by then too. There's normally a lot more Vrods there, this year was just kinda off due to the date and location change. It was a bit of a mess, but will get better in the coming years. There's normally a bunch of barndoors on display too Maybe they were just at OCTO and didn't stick around for the Classic.alien3t wrote:love the pics, wish i could of gone just to see, or meet ya guys. Hope so. The vrod will be my dd car once running. When my real dd the bike i cant take. Ie rain. Or want to go to track after work. Once running. Ill be on the lookout for a 67 or older shell. Convertable or ragtop. Have the pan from my 66 in the back yard. So i can build bug vw 2.

Re: VW people, anyone else going to the VW Classic?
Might be a bit far for me to drive
I wish I could go to any VW show but most of the time, I don't have the time. I would just love to buy an old air cooled VW someday.

nope. still working on the vrod. um vintage rc buying (some selling) and collecting kinda took over. (bought enough rc last year, i could of had air bags and a decent 1776 buy now. but lost steam on it for the most parts. still have a few things to go before roadworthy
