Its actually very good and I've also saved myself £100 quid as its free for a while. Its faster and has a nice interface and better snap gestures.
It gives you the option when setting up to turn all of those so called "spy" features off (the same spy features Apple and Android smart phones use btw).
We had the same thing when everyone was going from XP to Windows 7.
I've updated both my notebook and desktop, and I must say I don't mind it at all. Free upgrade installed smoothly and surprisingly quick.
Just make sure you turn those spy features off and it should be all good.
I recently purchased a laptop direct from Dell because they still offer their systems with windows 7 pro. sorry but everytime a new operating system comes out it gets more and more bloated with useless things, doesnt actually make anything faster or easier to use. I feel like all new computer technology is geared towards becoming some kind of social media directed machine.
There is something to be said for the simplicity of basic DOS. When I open up an old game in Dos Box, my kids / wife always look at me like I have some kind of voodoo powers when I type simple commands.
Besides, how else am I going to play old games like Joe Montana Football?
I still can't get Star Wars the Phantom Menace to run properly though. Will probably need to create a dual boot system or virtual machine to do it. I love my old PC games, sucks that most don't work anymore though.
Then again, I still like playing old Commodore 64 games too! Yes, I'm old and resistant to change
just a fun heads up that there are a bunch of services that you are opted into now. one being used a p2p type client to help push updates to other users but using your internet. The good news is that it can be turned off.
Its not bloated at all.
The upgrade installs like any other windows, where you can uninstall and go back to the exact W7/8 setup you had before upgrading.
Its a very solid OS..
I have 4 pc's that are mine, that ive had W10 on.. ive now upgraded 28 PC's to W10 and the only ones that have had any issues are 2 Lenovo Laptops.. Lenovo is special, and the clients didn't do a Lenovo driver, Think Advantage, update while still on W7 before hand.. Any other Mfg's and the oldest PC being 8yrs old, gave no problems.
Plus, W10 comes with a MS 3D builder program too! I need to put some time into it.
My problem is 10 will not let me load pictures off my camera. I rely on Windows photos, never used camera's software (Nikon).
I have always just plugged in to USB and pics loaded, not anymore
What i have gotten to use of it so far has been good, (my brother loves streaming his xbox1 on his surface tablet, while his wife watches tv.
Bought a new laptop Saturday morning. Win8 q502 asus. well when agreed ot buy it, the best buy employee said all out of it (was a 4th gen i5) said they had a new 5th gen i% but was more. Came to find out it also was windows 10 pre installed. (when they trid to sale me on geek squad service and could upgrade it to Win10.
Well it wont activate fully. says key is blocked. so i cant fully use it. just enough to play online. Asus tried saying, no we have not released any with win10 yet. have to reset it to see if it will let em activiate. so even with win 10 seams fun. cant fully use it yet. And my laptop is a 2 in 1 so a 15.6" tablet (was also nice buying a computer its been 14 years since i bought one and not building a used thing to use.
There's been a lot of commotion over W10's privacy terms. I'm sure these methods can change/improve at any time, but here's a guide which should hopefully give you a relatively more private, safe experience, however at the risk of not being able to enjoy some of W10's features.
Before/During Installation
• Do not use Express Settings. Hit Customize, and make sure everything is turned off.
• It's strongly preferred that you use a local account with Windows 10.
After Installation
• Head to Settings > Privacy, and disable everything, unless there are some things you really need.
• While within the Privacy page, go to Feedback, select Never in the first box, and Basic in the second box.
• Head to Settings > Update and Security > Advanced Options > Choose how updates are delivered, and turn the first switch off.
• Disable Cortana by clicking the Search bar/icon.
• (Optional) Disable web search in Search by going to Settings, and turning off Search online and include web results.
• Change the name of your PC by going to Start (or hitting the Windows key), typing About PC, and clicking Rename PC.
Slightly Complex
• Open up the Command Prompt by launching cmd as an administrator, and enter the following:
sc delete DiagTrack
sc delete dmwappushservice
echo "" > C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Diagnosis\ETLLogs\AutoLogger\AutoLogger-Diagtrack-Listener.etl
• Open up the Group Policy Editor by launching gpedit.msc as an administrator. Go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Data Collection and Preview Builds. Double click Telemetry, hit Disabled, then apply. NOTE: This only truly works in the Enterprise edition, but the final step provides a decent enough workaround for Pro users.
• While still in the Group Policy Editor, go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > OneDrive, double click Prevent the usage of OneDrive for file storage, hit Enabled, then apply.
• While still in the Group Policy Editor, go through Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Defender, double click Turn Off Windows Defender, hit Enabled, then apply.
• Open up the Registry Editor by launching regedit as an administrator. Go through HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\DataCollection, select AllowTelemetry, change its value to 0, then apply.
• First, download the Take Ownership tweak and enable it. Then, head to the Hosts File by going through C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc, take ownership of the hosts file, and add all of the IPs from this page into the file. (below)
Up To You
• Replace Microsoft Edge/Internet Explorer with Firefox, Chromium, or any forks/variations of them.
• Replace Windows Media Player with VLC or MPC-HC
• Replace Groove Music with Foobar2000, Winamp, or MusicBee.
• Replace Photos/Windows Photo Viewer with ImageGlass or IrfanView.
Well I'm about ready to paint two RC10 bodies, a Protech and a Viper. I've painted two bodies before, a HPI Challenger with window masks and a Protech. I had a real hard time masking off the windows for the Protech and never did get it quite right....

I am trying a new method with a couple of bodies; trace the window lines with a Sharpie on the outside, then follow the inside with some 1/8 detail tape. Once that's all lined up, fill in the center with a bigger section of masking tape, or liquid...
Decided to try and see how this paint might work for tinting windows. I used the orange I had works great haze dries to transparent hair dryer helps to speed the process, ran out of the blue. Some examples.
works great on lexan gear cover also.

Interesting, I'll have to check this paint out. I like the blue tint.
Can somebody give me a tip , how to make the dark windows according to the original pics on the box of my Optima MID special ?
It looks black from distance , but it is lucent. Is it a film, or is it smoke-spray ?
thank you in...

Pactra makes a paint called window tint. If you use this make sure the body is clean and free of oils or else it will look like s**t when you are done.
