not looking for a date, but need some help on my internets lol
scenario is this:
house has router, shop had range extender which has ethernet and wireless "extenders". I use both and they work great.
Shop PC is hooked up to the ethernet and has access, and shares files with server in house
CNC computer should never be on the internet, never update, etc because if it tried when its cutting...bad things happen. However, I want to be able to drop files onto it from my Shop computer
I have installed a wireless card, and I currently have internet access but will shut it off after this round of updates.
so, I want shop computer to keep internet access, and be able to drop files to CNC computer, but CNC computer cant be online. I have tried giving it a fake default gateway and that just didnt work. I tried workgroup but it requires internet access. My range extender doesnt seem to have much for routing options. Thats as far as i've went. Any other ideas? Im getting tires of using a flash drive back and forth
Any networking guru's out there?

Hi Jeff,
How far apart are the two computers in your shop?
Could you use a Ethernet cross over cable?
(An Ethernet crossover cable is a type of Ethernet cable used to connect computing devices
together directly)
My cable is red but I see that color does not matter now only how it is terminated.

Excuse my ignorance I haven't had a lot of experience with networking.
Cheers, Dave.

Technically I could, but I would rather install a dedicated wireless card into the shop pc instead of another ethernet card if your thinking of setting up a network between them. I don't have any crossover cable but could easily get it locally

Hi Jeff,
Yes, I was thinking of networking them directly with a cross over cable and enabling file sharing.
There is always more than one way to get the same out come with computers.
I like the kiss method.
Cheers, Dave.
