I'm getting ready to build a rail dragster from brass tubing and sheet. It will have an old school 16t brushed motor with a resistor set up. I could go modern but, I like the old resistors and this is more of an art project type car. While it will be an artsy car I do want it to be reasonably functional. Do you think a 1000mah lipo would be a reasonable power supply to make a pass or two? I'm trying to find the smallest battery possible as this will dictate the width of the frame rails. I'm not sure of the amp draw on the old brushed motor and resistor setup. Opinions on a battery would be appreciated. I have nearly all supplies for the build in route except for the battery. I've got a few sketches of the car drawn up but, will mostly wing it as the build goes on. I feel good about this one.
Yeah, I don't plan on any serious racing with this project. Just want to make a couple of passes every so often without the thing melting down. Wanted to make sure the battery could handle the load and be small enough to hide. This is a project I've wanted to do for quite some time, hopefully it turns out well.
Wow this type of thing has been randomly popping in and out of my head lately. Nowhere near ready to start anything, but little tubes and brass shim stock.........bending it up, cutting, snipping, and soldering.....just sounds like a blast. Maybe someday.
I look foward to seeing this one take shape.
Lazy question: anybody have any "links" to similar projects?

Thanks, I'll be starting a thread in the other makes section this weekend. I'll show you everything I used and what tools you need. Hopefully you guys will see how easy it is and start on your own creation. It really is fun!

FED's are sweet
I plan on building a sort of faux engine for it. It will be partly working for the resistor wiper. I've got some 1/8 big block Chevy valve covers being printed up by Shape Ways. It's going to be wild looking.

I'm a Chevy man myself though a hemi would look cool.
I was setting of my new re-re to run next week and decided to go shorty. I order a pack off amazon and one off ebay to compare. The picture below shows what I found. The middle pack is basically the same size as what I have always had and was the...

If you guys are interested in running shortie packs side to side I have some custom mounts available that bolt right into to rc10's.
I've sold quite a few sets of these.
Just getting back into 1/10 scale offroad racing. I know I have a learning curve given it's been 26+ yrs. From searching and reading here and elsewhere I think I have learned that I'll be looking for a 2s lipo to run my brushed RC10 in Classic...

Thank you all for you feedback. Very helpful, wishing you a a very Happy New Year!
I racking my brain trying to think of the name of a small scale buggy, smaller than 1/12 scale, that I remember seeing back in the late 80's. At least I'm pretty sure it was a Kyosho. Don't remember if it came RTR or not. I do remember it had a...
My buddy has an fpv setup that we used on his T3 a little bit, but because it's a 2.4ghz setup, it didn't like being on my P4de. As soon as I turned on my controller, we lost the video feed. Hobbyking has a 5.8 setup that's complete with the goggles...
Is it safe to charge a lipo pack that is already run down some, or do I need to discharge it compleatly first? Also what is the best way to store them, and is there any maintence to do to them while in storage? Winter is coming and I'm not sure what...

Just store them fully charged, and remember to charge them every few months.

To bring some answers to an old thread, and some of my own questions. Are the Turnigy and Gen Ace offerings comparable with the high dollar Venom batteries? I'm looking at one for sporting around, and one for racing. Currently both the Turnigy and...

I tested the link and it is still good. I'd double check the measurements because it's an old (and one of my many unpopular  ) post, but this should fit nicely.
