Recommendations for an RC car
I've given up on rcgroups forum for a few weeks to save my sanity , every other new thread is a "can you recommend a new RC truck for 5 year old Timmy "
Winge, moan, Baar humbug !
All the threads are virtually the same , can't they just read each others post to get the advice they need .
We seem to be blissfully free of such threads here .
45 year old Timmy already knows the answer to
1 how much ? Answer = too much
2 spares availability ? Answer = little to none , scour eBay for a few months
3 how robust is it ? Answer = well if you find it then it's 30+ years old so it's done pretty well !
Rant over , hope you all had and are still having a merry Christmas (other religous festivals are available)

If a jobs not worth doing then its certainly not worth doing well.

Re: Recommendations for an RC car
When I saw the title I was expecting it to be you asking that question. Facebook groups have also been flooded with that question.

Great rant! Used to be a guy walked into a hobby shop and the shop staff would have this conversation with the customer. The internet is definitely a double edged sword.
Hope you're doin' something fun.

Re: Recommendations for an RC car
That's a seriously chuffed 8yo ! Think I was 10yo when I got my sand rover for joint Christmas and birthday present after disappointment the year before when the parents got me a remote control car , remote control was by a clicker (sonic control) , it went forward or reverse In a circle to change direction , some sort of racing porche not even a buggy , I have more sympathy now as a parent but I was a bit gutted then !

Re: Recommendations for an RC car
definitely on the same page with you here dadio.
problem with facebook and reading each others posts is that they dissappear so quickly in the myriad of crap that gets posted they don't get a chance to. If you are on facebook to learn something you better read fast and be ready for a buttload of incorrect information cuz thats 90% of what I get there. I mostly go for the entertainment TBH and the deals that sometimes get tossed out there. We do get the same questions here once in awhile but its alot more civilized and straight forward.

I don't read from the book of faces , my two hobbies are Ww2 airsoft renactment and mostly 1980's RC cars ,anything post 1990 is lost to me mostly .

Re: Recommendations for an RC car
I don't necessarily find this true as just going by what you read on the internet or reveiws left for items i feel are sometimes exaggerated. I like to ask people i know what there experiences are with an item like the members of this site who i know before laying out my hard earned cash.

Re: Recommendations for an RC car
At times a thread on one car can be 60+ pages and finding the answer to a question can mean reading it all only not to find what you need and I have some sympathy in that case but "what RC am bestest ? " Threads being started on the same board as two other threads exactly the same on the same board is tedious
, not only have they opted not to try the search button but not even looked at any other threads on the same board .
Asking questions is not wrong , I ask questions but I try to use an existing thread .
