I had trouble on the rere aftermarket cv’s when used on vintage hubs and carriers. They get really tight when you insert the pin. You could easily sand or file the back side of the drive washers down I’m sure, It wouldn’t take much.

I'm currently running re-re hexes, axles, and dogbones in my vintage mids. All of it was plug and play - no mods needed.

It’s possible that my problem was due to them being aftermarket as well. Mine were from Jazrider

Yeah, could be.
The genuine Kyosho uni's are p/n OTW125, they also require the new pinned hexes so they should fit the Mid just like my re-re axles (same design spec's).

The bad part is that the re-re uni's are designed just like the vintage ones so they're kinda fragile (suitable for the front perhaps or with low HP) and they can't be rebuilt when they wear out. Were your Jazrider parts true CV's (can be rebuilt)?

No, but I think they offer both types. I wanted the universal style more for cosmetics

just to share what i discover with Kyosho manual; i realize thats in most of the assembly drawing shown in plan view are actually to scale, so if you manage to scale it to it size, you may get the correct measurement. for my case, i downloaded the PDF version of manual through Kyosho support site, and open it up on my tab, from there i scale it and screen capture it for measurement and comparison.

I've noticed that as well Siang. In the modern Kyosho manuals for the re-released models (also may be true for all models) I'm certain the illustrations are taken directly from CAD models. The top-view illustrations that are shown in the front of the manual for parts identification are accurate and can be used to re-create parts or to create modified parts (for instance, a shock tower with altered mounting points). This is a bonus for fans like me that also enjoy creating virtual RC models; I can spend less time measuring every feature for each part.

What's the difference between the re-re OTW125 and original W5061? I'm wondering if the OTW125 can be used is Lazers, Triumphs, etc.

The modern stuff is pinned vs the taper, but on the ultima for example both vintage and modern axles fit just perfectly in our trailing arms so I doubt there is much dimensional difference
