Im so pissed at myself I put the battery plugs in backwards and totally smoked my GTB ESC now the damn thing cogs like an old school brushed setup and you got to push start the damn car to get it going
anyone can fix these?
Visit Nostalgic RC in the business section or @nostalgicrc on Facebook for your custom RC10DS parts
Gone: RC10, Jrx-2 and Jrx-t
Current: 3 SC10 first gens, 3 SC10 Street Outlaw's, 12 RC10 DS’s, Carbon RC10T, RC10LSS,RC10L, RC10 Graphite,RC10 B44
You've likely blown 1 or 2 of the 6 drive channels.
Does it still work in Brushed configuration?
Be careful about using it though... sometimes the blown FET is stuck 'on' and conducts, which heats up the heatsink even if ESC seems to work ok.
No idea if anybody fixes them anymore. Could be possible to unsolder & replace FETs but short of having another junk GTB to harvest good parts off, dunno where to source spare chips.

Yah bud I just tossed it in the spare parts bin, looks like the bottom row of chips burnt to a crisp. Was still working but it had real bad cogging and stinks baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

If you can take a really clear picture of the bad row and the good rows, we can see if replacement parts are available. I just fixed an associated esc by replacing all the fets.
I've done this before. Crazy enough, my new ESC had the Tamiya battery plug polarity reversed. Never even occurred to me to check that. I tried to contain the magic smoke for re-installation later, but no luck.
That looks like a very tricky and tedious job to replace the burnt components. Good luck!
it's not terrible with the right tools. However, I'm not having much luck trying to find an equivalent mosfet based on those numbers. the symbol roughly centered on the left, is that an 'S' or 'R' or something else? ST is a possibility.

I've been having some trouble getting my SC10 to go into reverse. Its got a Novak GTB speed control and I have a JR XR2 transmitter. The truck accelerates and brakes fine but going into reverse is a little tricky. It will not go into reverse when I...

Are you making sure that you are in neutral first? What I mean by that is that on those esc's you reverse to hit full brakes, then you hit reverse again to get it into neutral , then you hit reverse again to get it to back up.
So I have an RC8TE using a HobbyWing 80a ESC. It's wired to run 2 Lipo in series (I think, pos and neg each to a Deans plug, with a wire connecting them). I'm also using a Fut. 3PKS system and FASST rec. I successfully ran my truggy for a little...

unless you are hooking the servo directly to the battery, in all cases the servo is fed from either the receiver or ESC, and should be regulated to 6 volts, nominally. The servos are generally rated at 4.8v to 6.0v, which is the range of voltage you...
I picked these up last week to experiment with. They didn't really cost much at all and they work
I can program the Cyclone with my own custom parameters or use one of the 20 saved Novak sets to use as profile 4 on the Cyclone. Too bad I...

Wait, you have a computer with a serial port and diskette drive?
I'm a Mac guy in all honesty, but yes I do. I found it in the garbage and put XP on it  I use it mainly for the old school Toyota Electronic Parts Catalog Software...
My neigbor is moving and gave me all his old RC stuff-mostly late 80's/early 90's. Included was a couple of used Clodbusters-probably enough to make one runner with a bunch of parts left over. Also in the box was a working T-4 ESC. I was going to...

Novak never spec'd motor turn limits back in the 80s; The manual for the T4 can be found here:

Its funny, I actually live in Portland near where they live. I have emailed him a couple times, it would be cool to see his...
Hello All, In one of my recent car purchases I got a Novak T4. It is still functional but it seems that the brake mosfet is blown in it. Does anyone remember if the drive mosfet are the same as the brake mosfet? Does anyone remember who made the...

Yea I am from Toronto. I just checked there is no Sayal in Waterloo but there is one in Cambridge. It is a lot closer than the other stores. Much to my misfortune all of the good electronic component store are almost extinct.
Anyone know the motor limit for a old school t4 speed control?

Will this help . check out p.5 step 2 . I have mine mounted on the rear shock tower.
I always ran trucks, but I always put my ESCs on the shock tower, on a bracket or shelf to keep them flat. If you cut an opening in the front windshield you will...
Hi, I emailed Novak about a possible overheating problem with my XRS esc.All I asked was what is the max temp for this unit.No answer about it. The car quits after 2 or 3 runs on the street. Then the power comes back after about 10 sec. Then I'll run...

if your thinking its getting to hot try and mount a fan on top of the speed control and see if that helps.
I started into designing a sticker for a Novak Rx I had, and then dove in the gallon bag of ESCs to find a sample that had a good case, but bad sticker, so I could print stickers to match. To my surprise, I found an ESC with no sticker at all, so...

None of the swine in my stable deserve such a nice piece, but it may end up on the Holiest of chassis I have.
