The M8 is great - the menu is so intuitive. I currently run an M17 and it's night and day. I could adjust everything I wanted on the M8 instantly without opening the instructions. So well laid out and user-friendly. The M17 it takes a computer science PhD to manipulate it

Performance-wise, nothing to complain about. I was still racing my EX10 FM 5 years ago when in the middle between the M12 (which I didn't like and only kept 6mths) and the 4PX (which was great and I kept a few years). People complain about FM being slower than 2.4GHz, I never felt it when going back and forth.

Having said that - the ergonomics of the handle just plain suck. I think we've made a lot of progress on that end. And the radio is really top-heavy, too...

But this is all forgotten when you get to operate it on the track. There's nothing that feels like being 20yrs younger

I've had the same observations when running my EX1-Mars,
nothing to say about the performances, but a little lack of ergonomics and really too much heavy.
And you're right, a real bitd drivin' experience must be with the correct Tx
! rejuvenating cure !

am in the process of rebuilding my yr4 m2 type j as well.

i hav a question, would u know if there is a pre assembled diff thrust bearing that fits this car simply for ease of maintenance and durability reasons? plus my eyes cant see balls that small anymore haha

for example, would something like this work ?
Avid RC 2.6x6x3mm Kyosho/Yokomo Differential Thrust Bearing (Tungsten Carbide)

sorry for not seeing this earlier. I have no idea whether there is an existing thrust bearing that can fit in there, i unfortunately didn't measure the assembly before I built the diff... If you are really keen on finding one that works, yes, I would certainly recommend you shop around for a few different dimensions, and with a bit of luck, y who knows... keep us posted please

heyy didnt realise there was a reply, sorry man, just subscribed to this thread for future...

anyway i got the Avid RC 2.6x6x3mm Kyosho/Yokomo Differential Thrust Bearing (Tungsten Carbide) and on inspection it is the same size, i think it should work, wil definitely make it a ton easier than swapping in those tiny balls haha
when i do rebuild my diff wil dump them in and update it here.

by the way, are the rear and front diff outdrives the same, can they be swapped? my front 1 way is busted and am thinking of just having the same ball diffs in front as i have in the rear.

so many part numbers, dont even know if they're the same or which one would fit this car
