I bought one NIB a few years back, so should have the manual still somewhere... I bought it in Japan so it would be real original = no english. Is that what you 're looking for?

yeah, that would be good. would you be able to scan it? If you don't have the means, you could send it to me, I can scan it, and then send it back to you....

I picked one up on ebay the other day, so I'd like to view a manual to verify the exact flavor of yr4, since there were so many permutations.

here is pic from the auction:

The YR4 models confuse me also, I've not had one but the YR4 II and later models had shock absorber on top deck I'm sure so I'd say yours is the original YR4

I couldn't find the manual but yes, aside from the following all visible parts are original.

modified: 'lightened' battery case

non-original:
foam bumper,
body pads
tires: originals are foams,
wheels: originals don't use hexes and go straight on the crosspin, mine were yellow, they are not suited for rubber tires

The black bulkhead tops: are those coloured or truely black plastic? Originals were white but they exist in black on later models, and perhaps end-of the original series???

I'll see if there's a date on the box.
I run one of these: got it second hand with lots of graphite and alloy parts. Runs really weel since I found out all it needs is a different set of rear axle carriers= with Toe-in

Mate, I have a 1994 YR-4 manual in front of me, and will try to get it scanned in today. It's 90% in Japanese.... but it may help.

I got it with my YR-4 touring car chassis a while ago, and it's sat in the box on the shelf since it arrived.... just can't bring myself to do anything with it.

Will let you know when the scan is ready...

Did you recieve your car yet? I downloaded the manuals off the Yokomo USA site but I didn't see the older YR4 manual there.

I did get the car and Mr. Ed pretty much nailed it. looks good overall, some minor corrections with regards to axle spacing and a couple of stripped screws, but overall very happy! came with some cool options too.

I actually found a manual in german which shows me alot of what I need, but I am curious about the small box in the manual regarding the belt tension. If the manual you have Alex shows any of that in english, that is all I would need.

otherwise, i need to upload the manual I found for everyone to see. anyone know german? how about how to put a pdf on the site?

oh, the bulkheads are black plastic......

I have the Japanese manual scanned, but to .pdf. Don't think we can put 7MB .pdf files in the scan section......... so if anyone wants a copy, just pm me an e-mail address.....

By the way: the white ball-ends are black on the car pictured on the box cover. My cars have white ball-ends aswell so I think the car pictured is more of a pre-series than what's in the box. I don't remeber what but I found one or two more of those differences between the box-art and content

cool, yeah, I have never seen the box, so i can't compare, but it's got white cups.

Erik, what did you end up with for rear toe-in?

Alex, I'll shoot you a PM. I was hoping maybe that section on the belt tension had as least a little english, but oh well....

the car came with carbon fiber shock towers, the stock towers, a set of universals, which the seller said was for 200mm width, not sure though, the front of the car has little dogbones, and not universals, I still have to iron out exactly what is going on with that. Also got a few spare belts, and a neat 2 speed assembly, and a couple of other shafts, looks like a new top shaft, and another one that looks not related to this car.

the tires are a little cracked and old, so they are perfect for burning up out in front of my house! just need to go through it quickly to make sure the screws are tight and belts are adjusted before I run it for the first time.

Oh, and as I mentioned, I found a german copy in PDF, if anyone reading would like it, just shoot me a PM as well.

jwscab, I want to pick up some hard bumper foam similar to what you've zip-tied to the front bumper in that picture, do you have any recommendations? I plan to use it with a Kydex bumper I'm fabricating for on-road use with my CYANide build.

I used 3 degrees toe-in rear uprights of the TA-05 (aftermarket ones from 3racing, but they might have cheaper plastic ones from tamiya)
