Trinity pink label motor cleanup

Post by GeneralZod »

I have another old dog needing some TLC. She wasn't very pretty when got it. Actually, she was pretty ugly! Look at all that grease inside the endbell!

I think this arm got too hot. Look how far it shifted to one side on the shaft. I inspected the comm under the scope....yeah she is bad and I cannot save it. Plus, it does not look like an original Trinity.

Before cleanup:

After:

After tear down and cleanup, I put in a new mild 19x2 arm and centered it in the magnetic field. New brushes added and also retweaked the springs. Replaced one mising purple heatsink and fixed the stripped hole it mounts into. Cleaned the Trinity label and will keep it despite its worn look. Opened the bearing shields and cleaned out all the old grit and grease. It looks good enough to me for a runner. Draws 1.5 amps at full rpm now and she seems happier!

Amazing restoration work. I believe MCI Racing makes that decal. You did great work to restore the original decal but a brand new one would really make it pop.

Thanks! I will have to check into that. I need a few new decals for several other motors that are wip. After running this one for a while, I will slap a new label on it. :D

It's amazing how far that arm has walked on the shaft.
Yes, MCI does offer this motor decal -- although, your decal appears to have cleaned-up nicely so you might want to keep it original.

Anyway, very nice work - again. You're becoming quite adept at the whole RC restoration thing General. 8)
