Turbo Burns OS Max 21 EX connecting rod
I’ve just acquired an OS Max 21 EX to fit into my Turbo Burns but it needs a new connecting rod.
Would anyone know the part number for the correct rod.
Many thanks.

Thanks for the part number, it’s much appreciated.
I’ll post some pictures over the next few days, it’s soaking in some WD40 at work.
I’ll have a scout on EBay, see if there are any for sale.
I’ve got a OS Max 21 RG, do you think it will use the same conrod?

Re: Turbo Burns OS Max 21 EX connecting rod
23605000 is the part number for the RG con rod, so I´d say - no it doesn´t fit.
If it´s just for shelf duty, You don´t need a con rod

Ha ha, I guess you’re right, thanks again for the information. How on earth do you know these part numbers?
I’ll post a couple of pictures of the dismantled engine over the weekend, then I’ll clean it up and assemble it (without the piston and conrod and let you take a look.

Re: Turbo Burns OS Max 21 EX connecting rod
Ok, here’s a few pictures of the engine.
I’ve cleaned the bits up with fine wire wool.
The liner was very tight in the engine body. I had to use some wet and dry paper to clean up the aluminium bore housing for the liner to then fit in. Goes in nicely now. There doesn’t seem to be any other damage other than the broken connecting rod. Bad news is the piston and liner seem pretty worn, you can push the piston up to the top of the liner easily. I would like to fit a connecting rod, just so the engine is complete. It’s just sitting on a shelf, so the poor compression won’t matter.
I’m in the UK so I’ll keep an eye out for sale over here.

Re: Turbo Burns OS Max 21 EX connecting rod
Ok, so new con rod arrived and has been installed. I’ve decided to replace the bearings as they aren’t the smoothest. Does anyone know the dimensions for the front and rears?
I’m not fussed about genuine OS items, it’s just for a shelter.
Thanks.

RayARacing here in New York does a great job and pretty reasonable if u can wait on shipping time

Re: Turbo Burns OS Max 21 EX connecting rod
I know, it’s nagging me too.
I did use rayaracing a long time ago, did a great job, reasonable turnaround too considering I’m in the UK,
Trouble is I’m getting into how much to spend on this engine.
Only paid £20 for it initially, £25 for the conrod, bearings ?? and then re sizing, where do I draw the line. Especially when it’s never going to run. But then, the rest of project is done to a pretty high standard, dilemma.
Speaking to a guy on eBay in the states about the front bearing size, he says it’s 20 x9 x6mm, but i think the shaft is 7mm, I’ll have to check.

Ok, in a twist, I’ve went a bought another EX off eBay.
So this one will be getting a new front bearing and sleeve re sized.

Re: Turbo Burns OS Max 21 EX connecting rod
Well I thought I would share with everyone the final demise of this beloved engine.
After carefully restoring it to it’s former glory, new bearings front and rear, new connecting rod, piston sleeve re-sized and assembled.
Please see the picture below.
Listed and sold within a couple of days on eBay to a chap in the States, everyone is happy, until an hour ago.
I received an email telling me the item couldn’t be shipped through ebays global shipping program for certain restrictions in place or because the item was prohibited.
I keep the money for selling it, and the buyer will receive a full refund.
So, the question is, what now happens to the engine, I shouldn’t really care, but I do, it’s just a waste.
Anyone got any thoughts?
