RC10T body painted with BLK 3.0 - fun experiment

Post by Lizardking »

I found out about BLK 3.0 the blackest paint commercially available from the action lab on youtube. https://youtu.be/4PSaGS5i1Yw

I had nabbed a decent looking RC10T from ebay for $130, but the body had repairs on the holes and was pretty beat so I ordered a replacement. With the old body I decided to paint it with BLk3.0. I removed all the stickers and cleaned it with alcohol and applied three paint coats.

Here are the results:

It's definitely black lol. It's like a silhouette from every angle. How does it compare in person to the pictures?

If its under direct sunlight you can observe the velvety texture of the paint (imagine an ultra matte, almost fuzzy look) and you can see the contours of the shell. Under normal room lighting its starts getting weird, and you can make out the contours but only if you focus your eyesight, otherwise its just a black blot. If it gets a little darker you just see a silhouette with only the body posts and rims popping out on a black background. The iphone camera has a hard time focusing on it. Pretty neat stuff.

I was unaware such a thing even existed. I imagine the fuzzy texture is paramount to diffusing the light to make it appear that dark.
